Hossa vs Franzen

Who cares? Seriously. Why don't we talk about what happened 3 seasons ago. That would probably prove a lot.

We're discussing current events in this thread. Welcome aboard.

**EDIT**

Looks like I might end up eating crow and admit that Shoreline was right. There are a lot of highly devoted/irrational Hossa fans. I HATE WHEN I HAVE TO EAT CROW... DAMMIT!

If it's about current events then why do we need to look at the last 14 games even, we should just look at the last one. Or base who we keep on a game to game basis. We're talking about the Red Wings future in this topic, not who is hot right now, but it seems like you are too stubborn to realize that.

Hossa was even more clutch for the Penguins then Franzen was for the Wings...

I can say about Hossa that he has proven to be a much more consistent scorer over his career. He has had more 30 goal seasons then Franzen has played total.

Not taking past events into your decision is very negligent. Franzen has never played great two seasons in a row, sure he has been close to on par with Hossa since the playoffs last year, but Hossa has been doing it for 7 more years then Franzen. Franzen also has not been impressive physically, defensively, and passing. I hate using injuries against a player, but I think it's a testament to Hossa's game that he can still be a force and not get injured (as often). He has played every NHL season with over 70 games, the guy is simply amazing in that respect.

I mean you're free to say you like Franzen as a player more then Hossa, I don't agree with it, but if you are going to say it at least back it up with something other then a small sampling of stats after the team has clinched a #2 seed and are apparently packing it in as a team.

EDIT: Nice little jab in your editt calling me a highly devoted/irrational, thanks.

Ok... Lets look at the last one. Good idea. Franzen was clutch. Hossa was average.

Sorry. I thought this thread was about what is going on right now.

I'm responding to the stats that were given in the OP of THIS thread. I'm pretty sure we can compare careers in a slew of other threads about the same subject. Excuse me for trying to play along with the current topic.

EDIT: Nice little jab in your editt calling me a highly devoted/irrational, thanks.

Not really directed at you as much.

Fair enough, I just think trying to compare two players' desire on a 14 game sampling at the end of a regular season that the team is already clinched for #2 is utterly useless, that's all.

Lot's of topics are pretty much useless. I'm responsible for starting a few myself. :)

The truth is stupid? s***... I'm in trouble.

I know that you know what i'm saying, you're just choosing to make it sound like something else. Deciding who to keep based on 1 game, or 14 games, is stupid.

100% true. 1 and 14 games cannot decide a season for a player, especially when considering a contract which spans years. The only way one would do that is to manipulate statistics to further an agenda (consider 14 games was more than just some random number and if you even go a few games before that Hossa has a handful more points.. he specifically used 14 games to prove a point), which isn't a crime or anything, just makes me question the motives of the person who does it.

hossa is just overrated. We won a cup with franzen, and now when hossa joined our team it seems chemistry isnt there anymore. We dont really need him which we proved last season.
