If it weren't for shootouts, would Sharks really be contenders? Seems they depend on SO to get a lot of points. Sharks will quickly learn that there are not shootouts in the playoffs. :D

Sharks are 6-5 in shootouts

Wings are 6-3...

things didn't turn out exactly as i was hoping tonight because of the Sharks win, but the Avs did hang in there which is honestly more than i was expecting. the sharks probably have the presidents all wrapped up, to their credit.

Typically sharks to get the 2pts after just cruising a whole game... gah... remove them stupid shootouts please.

The Blues grabbed onto 8th place tonight with two games to go...and they play Columbus on Friday.

Tonight's Columbus @ Chicago game will be big. If Chicago wins, St. Louis can tie Columbus with a win on Friday.

St. Louis could technically finish as high as 6th if things go their way...but they'll proably finish 7th or 8th...hopefully.

Well, the Blues are certainly doing a good job at proving me wrong. I said that there would need to be a lot of three point games for there to be a shot at all five divisional teams to make it, and while there have been plenty, it's really only been on the Columbus side, which is why they graciously are still in the playoffs after playing horrendously for their past 5 games. So it looks like Nashville takes the Blues' place on the team that will stand on the outside unless the Blues hand it back to them. It looks like the Ducks should make it in. Anaheim only needs to win one of their last two games to make it.

It will be very, very interesting though to see how the 6/7/8 spots fare. I'm hoping Anaheim chokes enough to get the #8 spot as Columbus easily controls it's own destiny to staying #6, but can easily fall almost out of the playoffs, as three straight regulation losses, coupled with two Nashville wins, is highly unlikely.

I agree, that is just too many shootouts, and there are no shootouts in the playoffs.

NHL should change the rules that if neither team can scores in 65 minutes, they both walk away with 0 points. That would give more incentive for both teams to try and score, because who wants to play for nothing?

You're kidding, right?
