"The Red Wings took the curious approach of not skating at Honda Center this morning. If they instead opted to hang around the hotel pool, you can bet the springboard got a good workout, considering the Wings' propensity for diving. "

"In Anaheim's Game 2 victory in Detroit, the Wings did more flopping to the ground than a European soccer player, all in an attempt to draw Ducks penalties. (And sometimes it actually worked.)"

Eddie Olczyk, rarely has a god thing to say about the wings and that is only after they make a spectacular play. living in chicago, i get to listen to his great analyzing regularly watching the hawks. i believe announcers and commentators for their teams should be homers, but he always seems to throw in an anti-wing thing whenever doing vs/nbc games. its my opinion that his bias definitely shows.

Also, darren pang is from chicago too. i like him as a commentator but he seemed to give more of a personal opinion, rather than saying it looked like he went down easy.

Has anyone else noticed comments over the years made by Olczyk?

Ehhh I try not to get TOO mad haha I know every team dives. And if you can get a PP for your team more power to you. But of course he is going to call it how he sees it. Wings writers have written alot of stuff about the ducks and it has gotten endless comments of "nice article dood you rock" from wings fans. It is what we should all expect. Deep down inside no matter what team you root for you still have Homer glasses with the team logo on 24/7.

This is Franzen's fault.

That clown embarrassed our team with his behavior against Getzlaf on Saturday, pretending like he was hurt after a backhanded slap.

Now these Disneyland reporters are printing stuff like this as a result. Nice going Johan.

This is true to an extent, but I would like to point to exhibit B: Chris Pronger, who I've seen dive a couple times hoping to get a power play. It worked once, as much as I can remember, although I can't remember who was the culprit.

I believe you are referring to when Homer hit him in game one. But he wasn't hit all that hard

:sneaky: yeah whatever

I'm going to have to agree with Ducks Fan on this one. The Wings do their fair share of diving. And outside of the shot by Brown which wasn't really intended to injure Hudler in my opinion, the Ducks haven't really played dirty. The biggest problem the Red Wings have is inconsistent officiating. If the Refs call the game by the official rule book (hooking, interference, and roughing are actually called EVERY time they occur), then the Red Wings absolutely ANIHILATE the Ducks. If the Refs call the game by the un-official old school playoff rule book (where they call 2 to 3 penalties early on in the game and put the whistle away after the third period opening face-off), then the series is going to be ultra-tight. Last year, the officials stoked the Red Wings train with plenty of calls until the finals, and by that time, it was too late for poor officiating to derail Detroit. But this year, the Ducks are poised to send the Wings to the golf course if the power play time isn't there. We'll see what happens tonight.

Who cares what they say? Any Detroit writer could just as easily talk about the dive Pronger took in game one after Holmstrom "interfered" with him. Hossa went down easy, but so did Pronger. The Ducks have no room whatsoever to complain about penalties being called.
