IDLE19 3 Report post Posted May 8, 2009 (edited) IF you have DirectTv as VS is on channel 603. if you check out channel 604 its also the same feed but much less commercials. you get to see the announcers on what they do between the commnercials. kinda cool to see. when they interview the coach/player on the bench, they do it during the commercial and then play it back once the commercials are done. I found it really interesting to see what happens during that short time period. i was also able to what the wings game while the blackhawks were in OT. NeverForgetMac25 483 Report post Posted May 8, 2009 I have DirecTV and I think the only reason 604 came up was because of the overlap with the VAN/CHI game. The only downside to the 604 channel is that it wasn't being broadcast in HD. For that reason alone I was happy to see the OT finish early. I think I was able to switch over to 603 HD feed no more than 3 minutes in.
PROBIE4PREZ 58 Report post Posted May 8, 2009 I was pissed when the Hawks game was going into OT. Until i pressed the guide button and saw DET/ANA on 604. Didnt other tv providers do the same?

Jwo 7 Report post Posted May 8, 2009 (edited) VS cutaway from the Blackhawks game to show the Wings game. At least here they did. Edited May 8, 2009 by Jwo
FireCaptain 563 Report post Posted May 8, 2009 VS cutaway from the Blackhawks game to show the Wings game. At least here they did. They only did that in Detroit and Anaheim. Everywhere else got to watch some of the period during the intermission but then they went back to CHI/VAN until it was over. Like the OP, I found the 604 channel as well but it was a horrible quality feed. As far as I know, that's the first time they have done that. I haven't seen it before. Sure wish I would have had that option on my cable. Just another reason I can't wait to get Direct TV in the future, which includes watching all games during the regular season on FSD including pre and post game coverage. I thought that was just a glitch and they didn't realize that they didn't cut away to commercial. I didn't find it as interesting as hilarious. Watching them pick their teeth, talk about non sensical stuff, groom themselves. Bill Patrick was hilarious, he was constantly adjusting something in his crotch area, underneath the table, and then he did a little dance. The feed was a little glitchy though. They'd play a coach interview, then ten seconds later they'd play it again. I'm thinking they tape it all 10 seconds to a couple minutes before they air it, I thought it was live. It was cool though, you got to see him waiting on the wings bench waiting for a coach interview, meanwhile they were zoomed into Babs and you could see/hear what he was telling the players to do for the penalty kill. I received the same feed with Uverse. (I was at the game but recorded it as well). This was DEFINITELY a mistake. I found it hilarious too... you can bet this won't happen again, someone screwed up big time and broadcasted the wrong feed from the truck. I was blown away that no one in their quality control caught this problem during the duration of the game. They had no idea. It's possible they still don't know it happened. hooon 1,089 Report post Posted May 8, 2009 this happened earlier this year during a regular season game on FS-D. Definately a major broadcast mistake, and im surprised its happened again. Was hilarious, i think it was mickey had something stuck in his throat and kept like hocking loogies. Oh yeah and it was free hot dog night and the announcers were talking about having a contest to see who could devour more hotdogs in one sitting. I kinda wish this happened more. selkie 10 Report post Posted May 8, 2009 Directv and Center Ice do use those kinds of raw feeds every so often, though less so than in years past. IIRC, sometimes it had to do with a local broadcast channel (ie. Channel 50 in Detroit) having rights to the games and there would be some sort of deal with them not broadcasting the local commercials nationally and Center Ice just keeping the raw feed on the screen rather than going to their own national commercials during that time block. They also used to carry the odd Montreal game done entirely in French, which was interesting to see even though I remember nothing of high school French. I'm also kind of bummed that since the NHL channel got Hockey Night in Canada, they now splice in their own US commercials instead of the Canadian ones. No longer do we get to see the "I am Joe...and I am Canadian" ads or the PEI Economic Development Board commercials. Instead it's more frelling Crosby ads.
