Wingsallwin 0 Report post Posted May 9, 2009 Green has absolutely looked like s*** these playoffs. Not Norris-like at all. And Fedorov with a stupid icing shot. Well, I still think Green will win Norris even though I think either Nick or Chara has to win; for sure, favor in Nick. However, as I kept mentioning again and again after Green started to get a spotlight from the media and fans, I really doubted his defensive skill. He has been absolutely a joke. His defensive ability is only average D-man in the league
Guest Shoreline Report post Posted May 9, 2009 (edited) Indeed. He is the favorite to win the Norris, I'm just starting to question the praise I had for him, when the difference between his defense in the regular season and during the playoffs has been night and day. This was like the 3rd time he was badly beaten on defense or made a crucial mistake, which is way too many times. Edited May 9, 2009 by Shoreline

However, the thing I could realize in the Rangers and Caps series, Green was totally a defensive liablity. I agree he is the favorite to win the Norris but I still question his defensive bility. I caught so many scenes that he lost his defensive spot while going too offensively. Besides, I hate to say this but Crosby looks to be better than Ovechkin in this series. Heroes of Hockeytown 694 Report post Posted May 9, 2009 (edited) Not that the voters had anything to work with but the regular season, but as long as we're on the topic, let's have a look-see at how our Norris candidates are doing so far in these playoffs: Green: 11GP, 1-7-8 (.73PPG), -2 Chara: 7GP (game in progress tonight), 1-1-2 (.29PPG), -1 Lidstrom: 8GP, 3-6-9 (1.12PPG), +5 Let me be the first to say: dominated. The Caps play a high risk offense which means pinching defenseman up, and during the season they were disciplined enough to not be caught on the backcheck but it looks like that extra effort by their opponents in the postseason should have cause them to tone it down a notch but instead their defense is getting caught up the ice. Green made some huge f***ups this game and it's happened at least a few times this series which is not the essence of the type of defensive stalwart that should get the Norris. But since it's during the regular season, he still deserves it, I just don't like how he's played during the postseason. 3rd period underway and Staal drew a penalty on Chara. Power play Canes.
