shoe 165 Report post Posted May 13, 2009 id like to thank all the papers, writers, sports casters, fans and anyone else that said wings are off to play Chicago in the next round before this one was even over. When I started reading this stuff Tuesday morning I got a bad vibe. We looked too far into the future and forgot what was right here infront of us. Lets all think big win over ducks 1st then talk fact not fantasy.

rick zombo 3,739 Report post Posted May 13, 2009 Some of us, on LGWs are guilty of this too. The Chicago thread anyone? And no, using hypothetical disclaimers such as "IF the Wings beat Anaheim" don't matter. These threads shouldn't be started. Terminate vent.......
SiLkK19 67 Report post Posted May 13, 2009 Thanks to the person who brought up that little game 6 stat too.
Opie 308 Report post Posted May 13, 2009 Are you people serious? I mean sure I wear my Jersey for every game but that is more tradition than superstition! Do any of you really believe that because a few people participated in a what if/Hypothetical thread that cause the Red Wings players to only go out and play the last 10 minutes of the game? Serioulsy? If that is what helps you sleep at night then blame every single Red Wing loss since 1985 on me, I always assume my team is going to win. I even speak as though they have already won the game, even if down by 2. I can be your sacrificial lamb and martyr: It took so long to remember just what happened. I was so young and vestal then, you know it hurt me, but I'm breathing so I guess I'm still alive even if signs seem to tell me otherwise. I've got my hands bound, my head down, my eyes closed, and my throat wide open. Do unto others what has been done to you I'm treading water, I need to sleep a while. My lamb and martyr, you look so precious. Won't you come a bit closer, close enough so I can smell you. I need you to feel this, I can't stand to burn too long. Released in this sodomy. For one sweet moment I am whole. Do unto you now what has been done to me. You're breathing so I guess you're still alive even if signs seem to tell me otherwise. Won't you come just a bit closer, close enough so I can smell you. I need you to feel this. I need this to make me whole. There's release in this sodomy. For I am your witness that blood and flesh can be trusted. And only this one holy medium brings me piece of mind. Got your hands bound, your head down, your eyes closed. You look so precious now. ( Show me something Thought I could make it end Thought I could wash the stains away Thought I could break the circle if I Slipped right into your skin So sweet was your surrender We have become one I have become my terror And you my precious lamb and martyr.) * I have found some kind of temporary sanity in this s*** blood and cum on my hands. I've come round full circle. My lamb and martyr, this will be over soon. You look so precious.
zaxx 0 Report post Posted May 13, 2009 I am one for bad mojo, bad karma or what ever and we had too much of it last night. 1. Rafi coming back - I love him andI think he did fine last night but sometimes when a team is clicking at full speed bringing a guy back from injury can throw off the balance. Makes a team take longer to get going. I think that is why we started so slow last night. 2. I agree that proclaiming we are going to finish the series last night bad not good. Look at all the teams that have planned championship parade routes (vancouver) and then failed to deliver. I think in both cases the real problem is that these things get into the heads of the players. If you get cocky then you are caught flat footed, it is that simple. Antilles328 0 Report post Posted May 13, 2009 I apologize. I went to the local Red Wings bar here in Chicago and I don't think I've watched a playoff game there where we won. I am never going there again.
Guest Shoreline Report post Posted May 13, 2009 Not that it's bad mojo, for me, but it was just stupid for people to start THINKING about a Wings/Hawks series when the Wings still need another friggen win. Given the Ducks have already won 2 straight in the series, it's entirely feasible for them to win 2 straight again. And this was before the Ducks game, since there was a topic already looking ahead with people predicting in how many games would the Wings beat the Hawks: I'll come back to this tomorrow night if the Wings win. There's no superstitious nor rational reason to look ahead before the series has even been made possible.
Chunkylover 26 Report post Posted May 13, 2009 (edited) You need to thank whoever is the statistician for FS-Detroit for pointing out the Wings record of winning game six road situations. Every time the Wings approach a milestone or have a record of success it comes to an end as soon as Keating or Daniels talk about it. Some examples: 2008 the Wings win nine games in a row tying a franchise record and drop the tenth to LA which sets off the February slide which sees them also fail to set the regular season win mark they were on pace for; Marty Turco goes into game five of the '08 WCF winless at the Joe, until FSD points this out and he gets a shutout. If FSD comes out tomorrow and point to a dubious success rate in game sevens then they may just have a chance... that is if you believe in superstitions.
