pavyaz19 1 Report post Posted May 25, 2009 I thought they were still pretty bad. In the first period there was some crazy stuff going on but the Wings persevered. I agree here, I thought the refs sucked again early on. I was, however, happy that they didn't let the cheapshots go later in the game. I also agree that the guy who got Flip in the jaw with a shoulder (with the puck no where in sight) should have been treated the same way Kronwall was for the hit on Havlat. Just because Flip wasn't knocked out, it was only 2 minutes. Lame. Glad to have won, that's for sure, but was really worried someone was going to get hurt. We really don't need any more injuries. Nev 1,085 Report post Posted May 25, 2009 I just wanna know where these refs where during the Anaheim series - why has gooning it up after the whistle suddenly become a penalty again. Not complaining mind.
SouthernWingsFan 854 Report post Posted May 25, 2009 (edited) The hawks fans that I know thought the refs called a horrible game. For the most part, the end result of the game makes a big difference. If the Wings had lost this game, then there would be scores of Wings fans bitching about the lack of calls. I guess I know too many hardcore fans of both teams. Neither sides fans are going to be happy unless their team gets a 20-1 power play advantage. Quoted for truth. In the grand scheme of things, I'll agree with Quenville. That call at the end of the first was pretty awful. That being said though, officiating is going to be inconsistent for both teams on the playing surface, both teams are going to get their share of breaks and awful calls. That's natural, it's called human error. It isn't going to change anytime soon. Bad calls works both ways for both teams involved. Which is why, unless in extreme circumstances (i.e. Hossa no-goal in Anaheim series, etc.), I rarely get up in arms about a missed call here/there. It will happen. I will give kudos to the refs overall for keeing the game under control and not taking any crap for after-play stuff, giving out penalties/misconducts when deeemed appropriate.
