I was just watching Babcocks media day interview on nhl.com. These weren't his exact words but he basically says that he thinks all the advertisements on tv for hockey this year suggest the pens won the cup in 2008!

Made me laugh alot, I suggest you check out the whole interview, its on nhl.com, unfortunately i don't have the direct link to the interview but as of right now its on the front page.

i'm sure they'll run the same commercials next year too...but once again, the commercials will not feature the penguins hoisting the cup. btw cindy, it's called a playoff BEARD! i hope the wings win in 4 and crosby immediately goes to the dressing room and shaves that mess of his face. he looks like master splinter or something to that degree...

The talk/hype surrounding Crosby doesn't really bother me but those commercials do. It's one thing to market the NHL's golden boy (which they do anyways) and another to make commercials that make it appear the Penguins won the Stanley Cup. The Red Wings are the model franchise in all of sports - I am pretty sure you can develop some marketing strategies based on a great team as opposed to one player.

This is the type of area the NHL really lags far behind compared to the NFL or MLB.

The only answer is for the Wings to completely keep the Penguins, and especially Crosby, off the scoresheets... so they have no Penguins goals against the Wings to feature in commercials for the next year.

Though they'll probably just use stock footage.

Bastards.

I'm glad he said it, those commercials are good but definitely make it seem like the Pens won last year.

I also laughed at the interview with Homer. His comment about how "hossa loves the media attention" was awesome :D
