I'm curious who the ONE team in history is that came back from a 0-2 hole after losing both on the road to win the cup. did they do it in six or seven games?

I thought it was Montreal that did it to Chicago.

My mistake, I didn't read thorough enough.

There is no doubt that the Pens are in one helluva predicament now facing having to win 4 out of the next 5 games against a very very talented Red Wings team who just will not die and will just keep coming at you. I for one said they needed to either play even with the Wings or be up in this series to have a legit chance of winning it. So the Pens being down 2 games to the Wings is definitely a huge huge mountain to climb.

However, we will see how things all play out tomorrow night in game 3 with the change of venue, and the Pens getting the last change and getting some of the matchups that can create more scoring chances. Both of these games were pretty much xerox's of each other both were 2-1 going into the 3rd period with the Wings getting late goals in the 2nd from Franzen and Fillpulla, and then Abdelkader getting the 3rd goal early to midway through the 3rd. Both games the Pens were on the verge of getting that 2nd goal and getting the lead either they hit a post or Osgood made a great save. Fleury as well has to start playing better and outplaying Osgood in these games.

one thing i like is that no matter how many games the Pens win at the Mellan... as long as we win all of our home games they have no chance! seems to be getting the last change is going to be needed because their little babies can't seem to create anything when we have last change.

unfortuantly we have last change 4 out of the 7 games......

Both games were very even. It seems like the Wings control half of one period and then the Pens control the other half. Game #3 will be very interesting because of the end of Game #2. It was clearly evident that Malkin is beyond frustrated and a victory tomorrow all but seals the deal for the Wings. The Pens are good, but they are not winning 4 in a row against the Red Wings. If the Wings are to lose one game in Pittsburgh then it's Game #3. I think Game #3 goes to the Pens and then the Wings take the next 2 to win the Cup at home. However, if the Wings win tomorrow, it's very likely that a sweep happens. This day of rest does both teams good, more so for the Wings and Game #3 will be one of the most exciting of this series. The Pens know they have to win to stay in the series and the Wings know they can smash the Pens hopes with a win.

The Penguins I feel just need to keep creating chances like they are doing and have done a good job of doing in the first 2 games in Detroit. The Wings defense while it still has been very solid they have been making more turnovers on defense then usual. That has set up a number of good scoring chances for the Pens. They just need to keep getting shots and creating chances and eventually I believe the pucks are going to stop hitting posts like Guerin and Crosby did last night and they are going to end up behind Osgood instead...

thanks for the info....i was looking through Hockey Reference.com but didn't get back that far...and since i was in diapers when it happened i don't exactly remember it ;)

I'm still not terribly confident i'd say...i feel good about our chances, but we need to win one of the next two to really start feeling good about this. preferably both of them ;)

There's a problem with that thought, though.

Anyone who's been a shooter in a series against a team where you KNOW the other team's goalie is hotter than Hell, there's something I call "post syndrome"--where because you're trying so hard to get around that goalie, you end up hitting post more often than you would hit the back of the net.

The Wings had problems with this against Anaheim; until the Pens get over it and find a way to free up Crosby (and pray that Datsyuk doesn't come back to play against Malkin), they've got no chance, because Ozzie is that hot right now.

The big problem is that the Pens HAVE to win at least one of their remaining away games in order to get the Cup. The Wings just need to get one away game and it's pretty much over.

The way the psychology of the Wings has gone, I'm guessing we drop game 3 and rally to take game 4, and then carry it to game 5 in Detroit.

Sadly for the Pens, Wings in 5 seems very, very feasible right now.

If the Penguins can hold serve at home in games 3 and 4 and that is a big IF but not impossible by any stretch, with the way the Pens played in Detroit in Games 1 and 2 being right there in the 3rd period and allowing that 3rd goal, I like their chances of going in Detroit for game 5 and having a chance to win. One way or another I believe this series is at the very least going back to Detroit for a game 5. If the Pens keep outshooting and outchancing the Wings a lot like they did in games 1 and 2 they will come out on top. The Wings are a very very good road team and have shown they can go into other teams buildings time and time again and win so Im not ruling out the Wings stealing a game here in Pittsburgh. I do think both games 3 and 4 will once again be close whichever way they end up going. I dont see the Wings beating the Pens 6-1 like they did the Hawks in Game 4 after they lost game 3. Much like the Pens will have their hands full winning 4 out of the next 5 games against this Wings team, the Wings will have their hands full as well trying to salvage a game here in Pittsburgh. It wont be easy by any stretch and the Pens are not going to quit.
