Guest mindfly Report post Posted June 7, 2009 Kronwall is great down low he showed it in national team several times too.. just need someone to cover up for him if it leads to a turnover, but he sure can be dangerous down low and be around the net and get through and get good shots at it. eva unit zero 271 Report post Posted June 7, 2009 Well I think Pitkanen and Timonen are both better offensive D's. Pitkanen is equal to Kronwall in the own end. Timonen may not be as good as Kronnie in the own end but he's playmaking and blueline skills are much better. Of course we can argue about this forewer. It's hard to compare players playing for different teams. I mean, if you have better players around you like Kronwall does, it's easier to play. Pitkanen may not have so good players around him, but he's the ice-time king in every game and Hurricanes best D-man. Timonen is just Timonen. Despite the fact that both Timonen and Pitkanen play on the first PP unit while Kronner plays on the second in Detroit, Kronner scored significantly more points than the two Finns. Both Pitkanen and Timonen's PP units feature better forwards than Kronwall's. Kronwall scored almost as many even-strength points as Pitkanen and Timonen COMBINED. That would be like saying Stephen Weiss and Jason Blake were better players this season than Evgeni Malkin. So if any of these guys has an offensive edge, it's Kronwall.
