Guest blueadams Report post Posted June 7, 2009 Datsyuk-Zetterberg-Cleary Franzen-Filppula-Hossa Holmstrom-Helm-Samuelsson Hudler-Draper-Maltby Lidstrom-Rafalski Kronwall-Stuart Ericsson-Lebda Osgood Conklin PP: Hudler-Zetterberg-Franzen-Lidstrom-Rafalski Holmstrom-Datsyuk-Hossa-Kronwall-Samuelsson PK: Cleary-Zetterberg- Helm- (...did anyone see who was out there on the PK lines?) PERFECT LINES TONIGHT! The one thing I would have changed - Abby over Malts. He can pester Crosby AND produce. Its also sort of sad to see Huds on the 4th line, but he's getting his minutes out there on the PP.
Z Winged Dangler 2,082 Report post Posted June 7, 2009 malts has played a good game so far. he's doing the small things. getting the puck out of the d-zone and blocking shots. i like abby, but malts is playing his part.

Grim 5 Report post Posted June 7, 2009 crazy... it took this deep into the Cup finals for Babs to get his lines right! Granted it sure is a luxury to have Datsyuk back. I would slot Abby in Hudler's spot in Gm 6. Save Huds for Gm 7 if needed.

And why would you scratch Hudler after he had easily his best game of the series?
bonan78 1 Report post Posted June 7, 2009 I've been calling for the Franzen-Filppula-Hossa line ever since the playoffs started and Helm was called up. As for Datsyuk-Zetterberg-Cleary, that line is pure awesome, and I like having Hudler as the scoring threat on the 4th line, he played well in that role last playoff too. At times I wish Babcock wasn't so stubborn about line combos, but at the same time I wish he'd stick with what obviously has worked every time he's done it. Oh, well, that's why he's coaching and I fix computers.

I've been calling for it ever since we signed Hossa last season! What I don't understand is they had an awesome couple of games against Anaheim, then got split up again
NGKEIB 32 Report post Posted June 7, 2009 As much as I like these lines, don't expect to see them tomorrow... Babcock might want Datsyuk, Filppula and Zetterberg on different lines, as we won't have the last change. Though I could maybe see him going with Zetterberg, Datsyuk, Helm and Draper down the middle...
Stiffy 0 Report post Posted June 7, 2009 crazy... it took this deep into the Cup finals for Babs to get his lines right! Granted it sure is a luxury to have Datsyuk back. No kidding. Homer un-earned his top line status ages ago and Hossa has no business playing with Hank or Dats - Flip is all he ever needed.

Though I could maybe see him going with Zetterberg, Datsyuk, Helm and Draper down the middle... I'm thinking the same thing. When the Pens have last change, it means Dats and Zetterberg will be split up to control Malkin and Crosby. Unless those two get put on a line together (which is possible late in the game if Pittsburgh is down) we won't see Dats and Z together much.
Opie 308 Report post Posted June 7, 2009 Was camping in the woods, a huge log burned (no s*** even my GF noticed!) into the shape of the Stanley Cup. Right then (9:30 Sat night) that everything was A OK! One question how did Dats look?
Grim 5 Report post Posted June 7, 2009 And why would you scratch Hudler after he had easily his best game of the series? No matter how well Huds plays, he's hardly the checking-line type. If anything, Babs will keep Hudler in the lineup just to be available for the PP. kinda negates the 4th line tho, imho. I hope Babs doesn't split Zata and Datsyuk... let Bylsma get all wound up worrying about the matchups. Our Wings should have decent rest-up for Tuesday's game. all the pressure will be on the Pens. Chunkylover 26 Report post Posted June 7, 2009 The one thing I would have changed - Abby over Malts. According to Babcock, Abdelkader isn't comfortable on the wing. Draper is a better center, hence Abby is scratched.

titanium2 867 Report post Posted June 7, 2009 I've been calling for it ever since we signed Hossa last season! What I don't understand is they had an awesome couple of games against Anaheim, then got split up again It's because he wants Filppula at center. Having Fil with his passing talent and defensive aptitude as a team's third line center is a ridiculous luxury. It increases the Wings' depth down the middle and forces teams to spread out more. The Pens know all about this with Jordan Staal as their 3rd line center.
