The Wings still have one more game to win, and it seems like the exact same thing that happened to the Wings after game 4 is happening to the Pens after game 5. They're being written off by storylines, past statistics, and good portions of fanbases from both Detroit and Pittsburgh. As totally pumped up as I am after Saturday, I'm still incredibly nervous for the next game (or two). Game 6 is in their barn, in front of a raucous crowd, and against an already dangerous Penguins lineup whose very survival now depends on a victory. They've shown they can play with the Wings, and we all know that's exactly what they're reiterating in their practices and team meetings right now. Game 6 is going to be hard enough to win without all the bad juju of writing them off. Maybe I'm just not used to all the harmony and positive vibes on this board (its been, what, two months since a goalie thread or a xxx is lazy and sucks thead), so I'm officially balancing out the threads of optimism and joy with a thread of fear and caution. You can all thank me later :)

My name is Echolalia, and I'm still scared of the Penguins.

While Game 5 had me feeling epic and superior, I'm definitely in the same boat as you. I just don't feel comfortable getting cocky just yet. There are a lot of variables that can lead to a game 7 at this point. And it's not that I don't WANT to see our boys succeed in Game 6 (Winning the cup is winning the freggin cup.. in our barn or theirs) but I'm not entirely ready at this point to jump up and down, pointing my finger in Pens fans faces going "I told ya so!"

Wings need to face Game 6 with the same do or die mentality that the Pens are. Otherwise Game 7 is going to FORCE them to play that way.

This is why I don't read any topics that involve us winning the cup. I think theres on going around now about who gets MVP ozzie or hank? Well it might be Crysby. I am still nervous as well. Sure the ball is in our court at the moment, but that can all change. I hope this doesn't go to 7, I would like to win tomorrow but I am not going to make any calls or predictions.

You are exactly right, we got written off and look how the team reacted.

Unfortunately I was at a wedding reception during the game, so all I got were text updates and streaming stats from espn....Fortunatley it was an open bar.... Thats another story.

So I can't really say a whole lot about whats to come in Game 6. After seeing how the Pengs came at us in Game 3 I would bet they are going to come twice as hard to push a game 7. Mayb the 5-0 win is a sign we are gettin back into our game and will be ready for what will happen tomorrow night. Maybe the rest day recharged us and got us mentally back into the game. We need to come in hard and shut down any chance they have at a shot on Ozzie.

Im still nervous about it, but the pressure will be on tomorrow night. It will be a great game.

I agree it ain't over till it's over, but I think "scared" is too strong of a term... I'd say that we need to give them the respect they are due as far as their playing ability. A cornered animal can be dangerous.

But you're right... now's not the time to be talking about the parade route!
