Really....Lilja & Moen....so a guy that's pretty much on the injury list forever and a guy that's not even ours to sign for under $3M w/ money left over .........

Lil $1.25M Moen $900,000 that's $2,150,000..... extra cap space from WHERE?! You're ass??????

According to capgeek...where Leino's pay has changed from 775 to 800 there is only $1,819,347 left w/ Lils included already so -900,000 is $1.25 which still isn't enough forwards right???? IF moen is making $900000 don't you think he may want a raise too......

Would you rather have money left over, or a man the Wings can count on to play f'n hockey?????

I would love to have BOTH....but it's not going to happen...

Hudler filed for arbitration...a trade isn't going to happen...if anything, in the aspect of not signing Huds, he is gone and now there is money to sign crappy players...WOOtothemothf'nHOO...how does that HELP the Wings.....

I get the Holland is getting a young team together.....actually a smart move, since all the other teams seem to be offering veteran players more money....the Wings will have younger players in the NHL ready for when all the other teams are "OLD"....ok, that's all I got.....damn beer.......

hudler is likely to get at least $3m; lilja + moen would cost less than that and so you have more space if you have lilja and moen rather than hudler. lilja provides things that none of the other wings defensemen provide and it was obvious for all to see how badly he was missed in this years playoffs. and he only costs $1.25m per year. moen would provide toughness, energy and a physical presence to the 3rd line. i think he would be a great fit alongside helm. he can also fight and kill penalties. if the wings cannot sign moen then there are plenty of alternatives though he would be my #1 choice.

if the wings sign hudler to $3m or more then they have to trade lilja and have a 21 man roster with no cap space.

if they let hudler go then they can sign a gritty, physical, defensively sound 3rd liner for around $1.5m whilst having a 22 man roster and some cap space.

as i said before i don't want to lose hudler but in the cap era you cannot keep everyone.

I really don't think Huds will get 3M. He's not as good as Val. As I said before, the best for Wings and the best for Hudler would be 1 year deal with something like 2,25M. Next off-season we would have more cap space to play with and Huds would get his 3M or more if he's proven himself.

E: but it seems that we already lost him to KHL so Lilja + Moen it is then! See ya Lebda, I think.

i would be thrilled if hudler signed for 1 year at $2.25m but it was reported that he rejected a $2.5m offer already so i can't see it happening especially as he has now signed with dynamo - probably for over $3m. surely he will be looking for at least $3m from the wings?

Yeah, but I just thought he'd understand the situation Wings are in. He would get his raise next year.

Leino showed me nothing in the playoffs. Applefritter played much better then him. Too much $$$ for a filler player. avg at best

800k is too much you do realize the minimum is like 500k right

Exactly.

Also, in the playoffs Leino averaged 8:44 TOI and Hudler averaged 13:28. I liked what I saw with Leino with his limited ice time. He's also bigger than Huds and not as easy to get off the puck as Huds.

So yeah, this is a great signing at $800k per year.
