hockey&beer 16 Report post Posted July 16, 2009 That too, Leino will have a bigger impact than most here fathom. I have faith in Ville. I know this is not the consenus around here but he will put up 40 points this season.
Peleshob 0 Report post Posted July 16, 2009 At this point I'd just like for the team to pick up one grinder. I don't think they're in as much trouble offensively as some people think. I'd be very happy with: Zetterberg-Datsyuk-Holmstrom Franzen-Filppula-Clearly/Leino Abdelkader-Helm-Leino/Clearly Maltby-Draper-Grier Scratch: Oulahen Lidstrom-Rafalski Kronwall-Stuart Lebda/Lilja-Ericsson Scratch: Meech Lebda gets moved for a pick and clears a bit of room on the cap if Lilja doesn't go on LTIR. If Lilja is healthy, I think Lebda should be moved.
titanium2 867 Report post Posted July 16, 2009 I think Lebda should be moved. Me too. Meech isn't as good of a skater but I'm sure whenever he carries a rush into the zone that he'll be able to make better passes with the puck.
Peleshob 0 Report post Posted July 17, 2009 Me too. Meech isn't as good of a skater but I'm sure whenever he carries a rush into the zone that he'll be able to make better passes with the puck. It's not even so much that I don't like Lebda... I think he's definitely gotten better over time. I just dislike the constant rushes into the offensive zone where he produces absolutely nothing, turning the puck over and having to get back on defense. With Meech I think we have a similar player for about 200K less. At this point we need all the cap space we can get. Plus, I see Meech as a guy who's more comfortable with having less minutes and more of a utility player. He's an RFA after next season, too.

mmamolo 287 Report post Posted July 17, 2009 I really believe that Leino is going to put up some numbers this year. I know that a lot of ppl are expecting a lot from him but I really do see 40 points from this kid. I think he can put up 20g and 20a. If Abdelkader starts the season on the wings I would imagine the lines fitting best like this: Zetterberg - Datsyuk - Holmstrom Franzen - Filppula - Leino Abdelkader - Helm - Cleary Maltby - Draper - Williams/Meech Obviously without knowing Lilja's situation we dont know what D moves will be made. I'd even have Jeremy Williams and Derek Meech playing the 12 and 13 forward positions interchangedly.

Why oh why did Hudler force the NHL to file a grievance with the IIHF?
