Searched forum and didn't see this oddly!

Thoughts.

I think this is just the owners worrying about their wallets!

EDIT:

Sorry Olympic camps, forgot to end that sentence in the title!

Of course this is the owners worrying about their wallets. You pay that much on an investment and you want to make sure the investment profits.

Yeah, but it's a stupid PR move by the league. They should've quietly worked something out between the olympic committees, member nations and NHL owners. Whatever the solution is, it should look better for the league than this one.

I Like this....

Why sign a contract not to play for anyone else then play for someone else and get hurt....

I get that its the Olympics, But its not the team you signed a deal with. Just my Opinion

Maybe its just me but I believe its way more of an honor to play in the Olympics than in the NHL. Your playing for you national pride and not a contract. If this somehow keeps the top players from playing in the Olympics in future years its a shame.

I am torn really,

I loved Olympic sports pre-dream team like I loved college sports.

With Pro Athletes there is no more Miracle On Ice.

However without Pros it is an amateur competition, you do not have the best in the world.

But man do I miss the old days when it was a bunch of fresh faced young kids busting their asses.

From ctv olympics dot ca :

Hockey Canada says it has settled concerns surrounding insurance for players attending the Olympic orientation camp later this month.

Johnny Misley, the vice-president of hockey operations for Hockey Canada, tells the Calgary Herald that everything is "fine".

"We have secured insurance to help protect the players - given the low risk there is - to give them peace of mind."
