mmamolo 287 Report post Posted September 9, 2009 After all of the discussion on LGW about how a lot of ppl wanted Taylor Pyatt to sign in Detroit he goes and signs in Phoenix for 600k on a one year deal. After making $1.575M last year Pyatt has taken a 975k paycut this season. Obviously he realized that he wouldnt be able to get the money he wanted this late into the offseason. It's unfortunate that a similar contract wasn't extended by the Red Wings. Well, or that if a similar contract was extended that Pyatt and the Wings didnt mesh at this price. egroen 384 Report post Posted September 9, 2009 Eaves might be a better bet than Pyatt - it will be interesting to see. I would have loved Malhotra instead, as well as Prospal over one of Williams/Bertuzzi -- but Holland has done a pretty god job of stacking the deck for Detroit in the depth department this off-season. Not bad considering how free agency started.

miller76 463 Report post Posted September 9, 2009 I really wanted a Prospal/Malhotra off season... but oh well - IHWT I kind of forgot about Malhotra this off season. But xm reported just yesterday, even though he was still the Columbus PA rep, he wouldn't be back with them, and is all but signed with Florida.

I think Eaves and Pyatt are best for comparison.

He doesn't use his size worth s***, he's a career under acheiver in the goal scoring department, sticks up for his teammates? I dont even know who came up with that. He's been concussion and injury prone and his fiance got killed last year which needless to say makes the mind a little fraile. You had no idea did ya? jollymania 162 Report post Posted September 9, 2009 Taylor Pyatt, offense, size, sticks up for teammates - $600,000 Jason Williams, lazy, offense in regular season only, been there done that - $1,500,000 Oooo thats a tough choice all i remember is pyatt being tall and going down easy for his size, no big hits either, the only fight i remmber him in was trying to get back at Ott after being embarrassed with a hipcheck. Williams can get his 60pts in during the season and hopefully is injured or scratched so Abdelkader could play. Its eaves or pyatt imo and eaves has more potential of turning his career around.
