Lamothe 5 Report post Posted September 21, 2009 This is how I see it Lids-Ericsson Kronner-Raffy Kindl-Stuart this would be sweet I like that as well. Provides solid depth across the board.
GMRwings1983 8,804 Report post Posted September 21, 2009 Why? Is it me, or does it seem alot of posters here want Stewie outta Detroit? I think he's a solid guy on our blueline; played great last season, and his only hiccup was game 7. That's one big hiccup. Actually, I don't really want Stuart traded, but I love how that one poster always complains about people wanting to trade a guy with a no-trade clause. I do, however, wish that Stuart would act more like a 6'2 Western Canadian defenseman, and actually drop the damn gloves. We don't need a Chris Therien on our team. We need a consistenly solid defensemen with good positioning that chips in offensively and makes players accountable with punishing hits which in turn causes players to play more cautiously coming over the blue line. Hopefully Stuart does that all season this year as we need him on the ice since Rafalski and Lidstrom won't be playing as much during the year.
beepbeep 3 Report post Posted September 21, 2009 This is how I see it Lids-Ericsson Kronner-Raffy Kindl-Stuart this would be sweet Very NICE. And hopefully Kolosov developes and Raffy is gone when his contract is up.......
Shaman 713 Report post Posted September 21, 2009 I like that as well. Provides solid depth across the board. thats was the point of that, it gives each line a big guy who can throw his weight around, and a guy who can put the puck on the net, and it also puts a vet and a younger kid on the same pairing which hopefully would help the younger players devolpment while also providing all pairings with energy and youth. Buppy 1,720 Report post Posted September 21, 2009 A lot of factors would play into the possibility of Stuart being traded: Stuart's performance, Lidstrom's decision, Lilja's future, the development of Ericsson, Kindl, and other young defensemen, including Lebda and Meech, the salary cap, and needs at other positions. If Lidstrom returns, Ericsson proves worthy of a top 4 spot, some other combination of defensemen look serviceable for the 5-6-7 spots, the cap goes down significantly and/or we need a top 6 forward or a new goalie...Stuart's salary would be better spent elsewhere. A lot of 'ifs', but none of them particularly unlikely. I wouldn't expect Stuart (or anyone besides Lebda or Meech) to be traded anytime soon. Maybe in two years when Ericsson needs a new contract, depending on how long Nick decides to keep going, and how well Rafi holds together. But I wouldn't exactly be shocked either.
