Finnish Wing 110 Report post Posted September 28, 2009 I am aware of what a douchebag is. In fact I think it should rank much higher on the insult scale. I think putting Helm on the 1st line center in the current Red Wings roster is much higher insult. Towards other LGWers, towards other Red Wings players. Konnan511 1,736 Report post Posted September 28, 2009 Larsson isnt on the roster. He is going to Sweden as an emergency goalie but can only be activated if another player is put on IR Edit: Wow I was beaten by two people... Did you see what they looked like, I'm always up for a good scrap, they better hope they aren't Pen's fans!
Konnan511 1,736 Report post Posted September 28, 2009 He's still just free agent status not signed. Holland said he will consider signing him after the game in Sweden after he reviews cap space and assesses his market. Which basically means, I would not be surprised to see May get signed by another team. He looked very good in his 1 game... Babcock wants him, Holland does not (that is clear). Holland wins these. Good for May if his 1 game audition provided him with a signing to another team. Can you pull up a quote that proves this? Or are you using an appeal to consequences of a belief? Jake Ryan 1 Report post Posted September 29, 2009 I think putting Helm on the 1st line center in the current Red Wings roster is much higher insult. Towards other LGWers, towards other Red Wings players. Oh, but putting Ninety-Sux on the first line is ok, right? I would be excited to see what Helm would do with some skill around him. The only way to fit someone on this team is to let somebody go. May is not a player I would want over any other player on this team. If we had a little more wiggle room under the cap then I wouldn't mind to have him as the 14th forward. I just don't understand everyones love for these "enforcers" who can't play hockey worth a damn and aren't even that great at fighting. Seriously, I would put up more points on the Wings over Downey or May.
Drake_Marcus 890 Report post Posted September 29, 2009 No surprises here. Once Helm is activated Abdelkader will be in GR unless he manages to play his way onto the fourth line (unlikely given who's above him on the depth chart and how useless guys like Williams or Bertuzzi would be on the fourth). The Wings won't stunt Abs development by putting him on the fourth line in Detroit instead of the first in GR.
Drake_Marcus 890 Report post Posted September 29, 2009 (edited) I believe before the season is over that Leino will end up on the second line. That's a fair assumption given his play during the call-up last season, his play in camp and his play in the preseason. In the preseason we only had three forwards that were at or above a point per game: Datsyuk, Franzen and Leino. Edit: And by "forwards" I mean "players". Towards other LGWers, towards other Red Wings players. Not an insult, just an opinion. That's what message boards are for, right? Personal attacks are uncalled for. You stay classy, Finland. Finnish Wing 110 Report post Posted September 29, 2009 Oh, but putting Ninety-Sux on the first line is ok, right? I would be excited to see what Helm would do with some skill around him. We don't win cups by trying something that is "exciting". And I didn't say Homer is perfect on the 1st line. I just say that he's been playing with ZD much and they all benefit from each other. Helm is NEVER EVER going to be a 1st liner in any team. Maybe a decent 2nd liner in some teams.

About as well as anyone else with virtually no offensive upside would? The offense you'll see out of Helm in 6 years won't be much more than what you'll see from rookie Helm. He isn't playing in the NHL because of his hands.

Even that's insane. People here need to stop thinking every single prospect is a potential top sixer. Babcock himself said he doesn't have the hands to score at the NHL level. (obviously he meant score regularly) Offense isn't his game. Helm is an exciting young player because he provides everything else you could ask for.
