Wings3:16 324 Report post Posted September 29, 2009 Schremp waived... Didn't make the Oilers and had to be waived...holy crap! You'd think there had to be SOME interest to garner a trade at least...you just knew he was gonna get picked up.

The Mule 0 Report post Posted September 29, 2009 The Islanders are finally starting to make wise decisions.
Carman 387 Report post Posted September 29, 2009 Schremp is an awful NHLer. Maybe a new team will change his working habits and he can actually develop a somewhat respectable NHL work ethic. The guy is cocky and wants everything handed to him. He doesn't care about anything except the offensive zone. And he cannot skate worth a damn. That said he has amazing offensive instincts and world class puck handling/moving skills. He would be a great Power Play player which in this NHL is actually useful. Not a bad move for the Islanders considering they are devoid of players like Schremp.
MacK_Attack 108 Report post Posted September 29, 2009 Unless he finds a new attitude and some skating ability in Long Island, he won't be in the NHL for very long.
kidish 0 Report post Posted September 29, 2009 Schremp is an awful NHLer. He was in the Edmonton system though... Any change of environment is likely to benefit this kid.
Carman 387 Report post Posted September 29, 2009 He was in the Edmonton system though... Any change of environment is likely to benefit this kid. Hopefully it will, the kid has a lot of potential. Just from every interview the kid doesn't seem to get it. He always says "I know i'm good enough", "I know I can play in the NHL" etc. Not "I'll try my hardest to improve." If he can change his attitude and determination he can be a very good NHLer, but he has not shown improvement yet. In my opinion, he's just another one dimensional player that played on a stacked junior team and racked up the points. It's looks like he'll be another Jiri Dopita, and Pavel Brendl. BeeRYCE 2 Report post Posted September 29, 2009 I watched him play a couple preseason games, he is "awful", you're right. Everything Carman says is true, and watching him all he did was tried to do it all himself by carrying the puck into the offensive zone only to have it taken away from him. He showboats like no other, and the only highlight in his career will be his lacrosse style shootout moves he pulled in that one shootout. If he does well with the Isles and becomes a full timer, cool... If things continue to go s***ty for him, It's going to be no surprise.
MotorCityMadness 388 Report post Posted September 30, 2009 while watching him dominate games when he was playing for London was truly awesome, he is finally having to play against competition that is just better. I'm not saying he is a bad player, but a lot of times when he was dominating games it was against teams that were not all that great and were way to vulnerable to "watching" him as opposed to just playing the game. I hope he does find a way to help the Islanders, but as others have said if he doesnt then its gonna be a very short stay in the NHL for him
