newfy 695 Report post Posted October 14, 2009 All the stats are against reds4life but he's still nagging about Federov being better because its his favourite player or pretty damn near close to it. All the stats point to Yzerman and Yzerman wasn't a dramatic little girl while he was in Detroit, Federov on the other hand was. Federov had no leadership skills whatsoever but Yzerman was one of if not the greatest on ice leader of all time. Do leadership qualities come into account in this single greatest season? schulzte 18 Report post Posted October 15, 2009 How was Yzerman's 1989 season overrated...? Okay, scoring was ridiculous during that era, but as mentioned, only 2 other players had more then 155 points in a season ever, and they happen to be Gretzky and Lemieux. The fact that he had a Selke voting was the icing on the cake. 155 points plus a Selke voting is overrated? In what world? Very good point-No one not named Gretzky and Lemiuex scored more points in a season than Yzerman in 88-89. Interesting about Probert scoring 62 points, I had no idea he could be such a prolific scorer. Going back into the old stats, some of the penalty minute totals from the mid 80's are unreal. The 85-86 season had 10 players with 100+ Penalty Minutes. Man, that team must have been awful. GAA of 5.
