So he simultaneously boarded a guy with his elbows up and slashed him??

To me it was a borderline boarding call because the Vancouver player acted like he was shot. Otherwise it was basically just pinning a guy to the boards and there's no call.

Thats because thats what it was...Shirkorov sees Stuart coming, then turns his back to him and embelishes...the close ref should have added a dive to offset the minors...

if its a penalty against the wings the person obviously dived

that whole sequence in the Wings end Canucks players were falling over like it was their first time on ice, Stuart did deserve a penalty but embellishing should be called too or everyone in the league will be Ribiero-ized

It was a penalty. I know a lot of you don't like it, but it doesn't change the fact what Stuart did deservedly sent him to the sin bin. Why he even touched him is beyond me. He had the guy contained, it was just stupid.

Not only that but a wing player was bodyslammed right after the whistle in front of the ref and , the ref just skates away

To me it was a borderline boarding call because the Vancouver player acted like he was shot.

In that instance, if a dive is called, the player who initiated the hit should be granted a freebie where he gets to inflict the actual amount of pain the diver's body language suggests. So, in this case, the Detroit player could take the Vancouver player and shove his head into the glass to create an injury that matched the reaction.

:)
