Carman 387 Report post Posted November 13, 2009 He has played well the last two games. Way to go, Jimmy! Definitely hoping to eat my crow on this. Crossing my fingers he can keep this play up, he was great tonight.
The Mule 0 Report post Posted November 13, 2009 Congratulations to Howie on picking up a pair of back-to-back victories. Well done, brother.
Guest Four Report post Posted November 13, 2009 I hope I end of eating crow too, two great games by Howard. GREAT SUCCESS!
Echolalia 2,961 Report post Posted November 13, 2009 The kid is definitely improving. Even the differences between tonight and last night are apparent. Not just his rebound control (better tonight, but still not the greatest), but he's carrying himself with more and more confidence in the net.
Opie 308 Report post Posted November 13, 2009 It is a shame how he lost the SO, he deserved better, IMO!

BeeRYCE 2 Report post Posted November 13, 2009 He has back to back victories and he might as well won the cup... Sorry, I'm just a hater .
Zetts 236 Report post Posted November 13, 2009 He's clearly improving, although I'd disagree that he was particularly good against Columbus. Great to see though, I hope the guy pans out. Every game he does seem to be getting better.
tommingthepuck96 1 Report post Posted November 13, 2009 Makes perfect sense to me. I dropped howard and picked up conklin in my pool a day before the jackets game yesterday. Its really awesome though to get out-played and then actually win a game for a change.
Pavel Hossyukstrom 2 Report post Posted November 13, 2009 finally! A Jimmaaaaaay! thread He was actually stellar I might say tonight. And the assist was icing on the cake

Doggy 130 Report post Posted November 13, 2009 It always makes sense to jugde a rookie after a few games. a) He's not a rookie and; b) What do you mean "judge"? I think most here are simply applauding his last two performances, or at least tonight's performance. I doubt anyone's gonna begin to suggest he's a starter. Gordie Howe hat trick 110 Report post Posted November 13, 2009 I did tell everyone around here that they would be eating loads of crow when it comes to Howard. Just have to cut the guy some slack...maybe even the same slack that you would cut Osgood, but for Jimmy to get any slack around here means the world is ending. Z and D for the C 712 Report post Posted November 13, 2009 Definitely hoping to eat my crow on this. Crossing my fingers he can keep this play up, he was great tonight. x2. I had very little faith in him when the season started, but my confidence in him has grown hugely in the few games he has played, he looks great. Still a few areas he has to work on but as a rookie goalie I think he can stand up with any rookie goalie in the league right now.

I think most here are simply applauding his last two performances, or at least tonight's performance. I doubt anyone's gonna begin to suggest he's a starter. a) He is a rookie, well at least officially he is. b) What's wrong with you? Of course I mean the opinion many people here had before these two games. There were many here who wanted to get rid of him even before he hadn't played that many games. Wings won't have kids who explode into the league mostly because they never draft in the top 15.

Just have to cut the guy some slack...maybe even the same slack that you would cut Osgood, but for Jimmy to get any slack around here means the world is ending. Osgood is a proven starter and was Detroit's MVP last playoffs. Howard has not proven much at all. There is a reason people doubted Howard.

Z and D for the C 712 Report post Posted November 13, 2009 What is the official definition of a rookie?
Doggy 130 Report post Posted November 13, 2009 What is the official definition of a rookie? I'm not 100% but I think it's 1st season player or sophomore that's played in less than 20 games in his first season. Howard has played in the NHL since 05-06. I dunno how he could be a rookie. P. Marlowe 748 Report post Posted November 13, 2009 (edited) Officially, he is not a rookie. Sorry if I offended you by asking what you meant by judge. I'm not sure what's wrong with me. Hmm, alright. Red Wings' website and NHL.com say that he's a rookie. NHL.com top rookies "To qualify for rookie status in both the NHL and FHL, a player cannot have played more than 25 games in any single preceding season nor in six or more games (in any major professional league) in any two preceding seasons. A player also must not have reached his 26th birthday by September 15 of the season in which he is eligible." http://www.fhlonline.com/rules.html Edited November 13, 2009 by P.
