Doc Holiday 0 Report post Posted November 20, 2009 Yikes. From behind the whole way, leads high, on the boards. Good for the five and a game, and I wouldn't be terribly upset with a suspension.
hillbillywingsfan 794 Report post Posted November 20, 2009 (edited) wow..that was the craziest looking knockout i have seen.....he falls on his knees..turns around then falls back on his back....that dude was gone! P. Marlowe 748 Report post Posted November 20, 2009 Strange. You'd think Dorsett's helmet would've protected him. Usually they do, when players heads hit the glass. It wasn't that he went chin-first into the boards either.
miller76 463 Report post Posted November 20, 2009 the way he went down to his knees, kind of spun around and went out cold, was almost like a bad clip from a movie. Almost looked fake. That hit was way too high.
Doc Holiday 0 Report post Posted November 20, 2009 After watching it a few more times it does seem like an acting job. Recoils from the glass as if hit by a stick, then pulls off a little performance hitting the ice. Players who get knocked out don't do that.

I think the way he went down looked too weird to be acting.
ComradeWasabi 109 Report post Posted November 20, 2009 Really high hit, but I'm surprised Dorsett got KO'd. It didn't even look like his head went into the glass that hard.
ShanahanMan 473 Report post Posted November 20, 2009 I just.....don't know. He gets hit (doesn't seem THAT hard), falls down, kinda sits up, and then dramatically drops. It looks kinda.......iffy.
thegerkin 189 Report post Posted November 20, 2009 Isn't Neal the guy they were saying was a "Shanahan-like player"?
Guest Shoreline Report post Posted November 20, 2009 Isn't Neal the guy they were saying was a "Shanahan-like player"? I ignore silly comments that relate one player directly to another. Always is and will be a piss poor way of judging talent. As for the hit, utterly dirty, high, dangerous.. not much more to say than suspension worthy. Guest Shoreline Report post Posted November 20, 2009 (edited) looks like you didn't ignore that one=) Not really what was inferred. It was "they" who that poster was referring to, and "they' who I ignored in terms of suggesting Player A is related to or like Player B. In one ear, out the other, basically. I agree, the hit is definitely suspension worthy.
The Mule 0 Report post Posted November 20, 2009 Dirty hit. Neal deserves to be suspended.
FIBS 35 Report post Posted November 20, 2009 Strange. You'd think Dorsett's helmet would've protected him. Usually they do, when players heads hit the glass. It wasn't that he went chin-first into the boards either. His face hit the glass. Theres nothing covering his face. A helmet wouldn't protect him from that hit. thegerkin 189 Report post Posted November 20, 2009 (edited) Even though Dorsett got knocked silly, it would've been worse if he were about another foot away from the board. I remember watching a show on the Discovery Channel, can't remember the name, "Sports Science" or something, but the concept was about sports and the force that certain actions have. They had a hockey segment, and about 2 feet from the boards was the "danger zone" when being checked, even cleanly. (Now I have Kenny Loggins in my head). Anyways, the extra space gave extra momentum and it rocked the dude like 10 times worse. Edited November 20, 2009 by thegerkin
seeinred 1,488 Report post Posted November 20, 2009 I mean, I guess he should he be suspended, but that hit happens all the time with no injury. Technically against the rules, but Dorsett was close enough to the boards that I'm really surprised he was so severely injured.

I just thought that the part of the helmet which is covering forehead would've taken a big part of the blow.

syntax 359 Report post Posted November 20, 2009 Way too high of hit, especially from behind, and against the boards. Worth a 2 game sitdown IMO.
mjlegend 155 Report post Posted November 20, 2009 Way too high of hit, especially from behind, and against the boards. Worth a 2 game sitdown IMO. Which is exactly what he gets. http://starsblog.dallasnews.com/archives/2...suspension.html There's got to be some history between these two guys. Neal wouldn't just throw that hit without a reason, would he? I thought that was Ott's job.
