Friggin Barry Melrose screwed him over last year by putting him on the 4th line, he could have been in the calder running for sure. It's the fact that he had the presence of mind to do that in a last second attempt. The desperation and determination to capitalize on a missed opportunity. It's not like he figured "oh, I'm just going to fall and bat it in to make highlight reels." No... It's all about presence of mind, and that's what separates the average players from the great players. Luck? Is it a coincidence that the first overall pick did this, or what Tavares did last year in the World Juniors, or what Ovechkin did against Phoenix? Presence of mind and hockey sense.
