haha clean? It was Ovechkin, and the playoffs, so people just let it slide. In my opinion, Ovy had no intent to move his knee out of the way when he collided with Gonchar.

I can see people defending the Gonchar hit, I think it was dirty but it certainly wasn't cut and dry.

But this one has no counter arguement. It's just plain dirty. Instant karma as well. I have absolutely no sympathy for knee to knee hits. Ovechkin has a list of at least questionable hits already, he needs to tone down his play. He is too good of a player to injure himself on a play like that.

I'm not saying he shouldn't get a game or two, as constant accidents or not deserve to be punished, but I fail to see how that was intent to injure, when he went to hit the guy.

This isn't just an accident, he has been playing along the line of dirty for a while. I don't agree that most of the hits in the video are dirty, but they are close. And the Gleason hit is as dirty as they get.

So, never thought about this, but if he is suspended for the next 5 games, but is also injured and can't play anyway for about 5 games, is he allowed to come back and play in the 6th game? I'm almost certain the answer is yes, but it doesn't quite seem fair.

i think if he's suspended he doesn't get his paycheck. do injured players lose their paycheck (dont think so) for the games they miss through injury?

I'm babbling on about everyone saying it's dirty. Normally dirty hits are intentional hits, remember Liambas' hit and everyone yelled at me for saying it wasn't dirty because it was an accident? Not as bad as Laraque's as at least Ovi threw a shoulder and a knee, whereas Laraque's was all knee and was a blatant attempt to injure. 3-5 games are in order I should think.

It's just how he plays that causes injuries. He's too excited and tries to throw his weight around, but whose to tell him to play calmly? It would ruin who he is, and the enjoyment he provides. Injuries are a part of the game.

And that play style will lead him to be another Lindros. Or at least impact the length and effectiveness of his career. He doesn't need to stop playing physical, he just needs to redefine his limits.

Injuries are becoming TOO much of a part of the game this season. Especially on hits that can be controlled.
