No need to call someones analysis "dumb". It doesn't help your cause and is petty. Just saying.

I'm pretty sure Theophany knows Holland's intentions no better than any bum off the street. We can speculate but when we start to think we're in the heads of our front office, that's dumb.

Holland's intentions have nothing to do with the subject; the poster I quoted said that the Wings' system (meaning GR et al) brought up the players that are doing so well for us, when it's really been Holland bringing in guys from outside the organization which has really helped us.

Howard has really been the only outstanding player from GR, though Abdelkader and Helm have done well.

And you're right, I have no idea what Holland's intentions are other than to do what's best for the organization, I've never said otherwise.

Not to get into semantics here but he called them projects, Dan Cleary was a project, reviving Patrick Eaves career, is a project, Janik is a career AHLer, him on the Wings roster has got to be a complete surprise to Doug and the Wings, making him at age 30 an NHL d-man is a project. Bert was definitely a project, "Lets see what he can do the second time around". Even Miller when picked up was headed nowhere before the wings grabbed him.

The point here was that these players he listed are not guys that were signed to make an impact they were all signed to see if they could even skate with the big club.

So basically I think they were all projects except May, but you may see the word project as a kid they drafted or picked up real young and are molding them, analogy: Model airplane, you have a plan for it, you have the parts, you just need to take the time and patience to put all of it together.

Either way, I think these guys should be called saviors not projects.

How in the hell this team is not in dead last.

You know in nhl 2k10 at this point in time I reset the season, screw these injuries the computer is out to get me!

(explanations are not calling people dumb as I have been accused of in the past, it is to make sure my point is understood, I get wordy sometimes!)

Bingo. There is a difference between a PROJECT and a PROSPECT.

It's only analysis if you don't actually know the history of the players playing for the club.

Read again, then tell me the difference between project and prospect, and why I would use one over the other.

Yes, yes, and amen.

Miller. May. Eaves. Janik. Abdelkader. Howard. Newbury. Bertuzzi.

All projects. All guys we'd normally never see. Miller, May and Eaves should be pretty much injury callups. Janik and Newbury should be a year away at least. Eaves and Bertuzzi should be third-liners. Howard was supposed to only get about 20 starts.

Average ice time for the skaters on that list? About 16:40. Bertuzzi led all forwards with 18:45. Even newcomer Newbury had 10:30. Forget 20 starts for the season, Howard's at 11-6-1, 0.920 save percentage, GAA of 2.27. He's 8th in GAA, 11th in save percentage.

Our stars already know how to play. Now, the new guys are showing their stuff, and they're showing diamonds.

I was there tonight, and there are few moments I was more proud to be a Wings fan than seeing the clock go to 0:00 and Howard have his first shutout. It will be first of many, and the guys we saw are the ones to make it happen. This team is in good hands, and is showing the strength and work ethic that make me a proud citizen of Hockeytown.

Long live Hockeytown!

Just got back to the board and read from the most current post back to this post. I appreciate your attitude and your approach to what's happening to the Wings right now, both individually and team-wise. I am sorry this got into nit-picking, but I have no control over that and like, what else is new? ^_^ Point is, they're learning and growing as we speak, both the vets and the young'ns and I get the sense they're having great fun right now.

The point was that just because someone was a roster spot filler, doesn't mean they can't be a project as well. It's called upside. I'll probably see some "well, actually..." response because you're the resident forum arguer but that's just what it is.
