"I think it's going to give us a boost once we get some of the guys back, but you can't be counting on them to have an impact right away,'' captain Nicklas Lidstrom said. "It might take them a while to get into game tempo and game shape and get their timing back.''

Hey, you strategically left out part of Lidstrom's quote, why?

"Guys have missed a lot of games, they should be fresh, should be hungry to get back playing,'' Lidstrom said. "That's going to help us the second half of the year.''

Kronwall > Meech ?

Filppula > Leino ?

Zetterberg > Ritola ?

Williams > Meech ? (on the PP)

That looks like a boost to me. Especially with all the 1 goal game's we lost.

Honestly?

It's all about Franzen. None of this matters if he takes until next November to get his post-injury game back.

Now that's just plain stupid. Give him a month and he will be back to normal. Just in time for the playoffs.

The negativity on LGW is just increadible.

Right now I just hope we can make the playoffs, let alone prepare for a SCF against Pittsburgh.

For Christ's sake we are 1 point out of a playoff spot and we have EIGHT regulars out. Don't you think that our record will improve by at least 1 lousy point when we get those EIGHT regulars back?

We are 1 point out and we are going to add

Franzen

Fillpula

Cleary

Zetterburg

Williams

Ericsson

and Kronwall

and you are woried that after adding all these guys that we can't make up that 1 point?

If you are going to be so damn negative why don't you go watch the Pistons.

Someone new gets injured every three games or so. We'll be lucky if we can get all those guys back without anyone else being hurt. Also, the chemistry will be hard to get back instantly, especially with the Olympic break in there.

If you're going to be so damn positive, go root for the Pens or something. They'll keep you happy for at least the next 10 years or so.

All teams will be rusty and out of sync after break. It will be a brand new season.

Until Sid and Geno take out each other's knees while attempting to chest bump after a goal! Woe unto the Pens on that day!

I figure if you jump on the bandwagon now, you're guaranteed at least 3 or 4 more Cup wins as a fan.

I don't think the Wings could promise you that much anymore.

Depends on how long you live!

Then again, I was at my grandad's yesterday for holiday business and he was telling me about how he remembers the last time the Lions won a championship, so it may require some patience. :P

Always assume the worst huh?

Teams that have won 1 cup recently

Aneheim

Tampa Bay

Carolina

Pittsburgh

I wouldn't bet on the Pens getting all the breaks 2 years in a row let alone 10. If they were to lose Malkin or Crosby who is going to pick up the slack. Bill Guerrin?

The Pens can't get injuries in the playoffs.

The Hockey Gods love them too damn much.

Gotta say its impossible to really comment at this stage, but if the team makes it to the playoffs and healthy, then its a massive plus, as some players will be rested, the likes of bert, drapes and even malts will have re-found themselves to a degree, and the likes of helm, eaves, miller, abdelkader will have gained more clutch experience and integrated more into rw hockey. The fact that the team can still be in touch with so many injuries and so many new players is a good thing, and actually serves us well in the transition required when th elast of the 97 team finally retire in 2010 and 2011....lets hope we have a good january!
