EuroTwin 240 Report post Posted January 16, 2010 I know, intellectually, that Konstantinov is and was a tank, but it always, always surprises me when I watch footage of him. I just forget how much of a ******* tank that man was.

Broken 16 381 Report post Posted January 16, 2010 I remember chucking home made sugar cookies with the players names and numbers on them out of the doorwall after they lost to San Jose back in the early 90's.
Vladifan 680 Report post Posted January 16, 2010 My YT is back What was he, about 6 ft tall, 180 lbs? And he had no problems taking out guys like Lindros. He was fearless. His timing was mesmerizing. You knew the hit was coming and you knew he'd find just the right angle. He was very un-Euro-like. I still miss him and his play so much. And I still tear up thinking about what we as fans lost. TheDetroitRedWings 286 Report post Posted January 16, 2010 I'll never forget all the amazing memories with Vladdy. I'll also never forget swimming in my pool on a beautiful summer day loving the fact that we were Stanley Cup champions, and my dad came out and broke the news of what happened to Vladdy. I had an instant feeling of dread. What a massive tragedy that was and still is. Vladdy forever.

Jedi 1,865 Report post Posted January 16, 2010 That was Hawerchuk's last game in the NHL too. He missed game 4 of the finals, and retired after the series. That hit came in the 2nd period, and if I'm not mistaken (correct me if I'm wrong, too), I don't think Hawerchuk played another shift after that hit. Interesting to think that (possibly) the guy's last play in the NHL resulted in him getting absolutely ROCKED.
