cause wayne gretzky, luongo, orrand other guys with rings where never traded or released right ?! osgood cant play forever clearly!..so why not give another kid the chance

Let me help you out:

"Because Wayne Gretzky, Luongo, and/or other guys with rings were never traded or released, right? Osgood can't play forever, clearly!... so why not give another kid the chance?"

Ozzy has not played awful this year and is, at the very least, a solid back up. Your suggesting we get rid of a goalie with 3 stanley cup rings, 2 back to back stanley cup appearances, and is on the verge of winning his 400th NHL game for a kid who has never played one game in the NHL. I fail to see any logic in this argument (if that can be considered an argument) whatsoever. Even if Ozzy is just the backup, what is the point of trading/waiving him? So we can have 2 rookie goaltenders instead of one? Your hatred for Ozzy clouds any reasonable points you have.

I really hate getting in on these goalie debates but Eva, since you're such a stats junkie, how do you explain this:

2008-09 DET 3.09 .887

2009-10 DET 2.83 .896

Straight up, Osgood has been mediocre to downright horrible for the past two regular seasons. Don't bring up the playoffs because this team won't make the playoffs if he can't win them some games. I'm not saying win them every game, but the team in front of him isn't going to be flawless night in and night out like it seems you expect them to be.

I never said that. All I said was that the three goals Osgood gave up were not WEAK goals. There is a difference between giving up a goal and giving up a weak goal. Backstrom's goal, in terms of shooter relative to goalie, was nearly identical to Brunette's tying goal on Howard in the Minnesota game. Was that a weak goal? No, because it was Howard and only Osgood gives up weak five-hole goals right? And Howard gave up the Wild's second goal because he kicked a rebound right into the slot.

Howard is not perfect. He's good. Osgood is not terrible. He's good. The Ozzie haters need to shut the heck up with the "Ozzie hasn't played well enough to take the job back" because of this simple fact:

OZZIE HASN'T PLAYED.

Based on the last two games, I would pick Ozzie as the starter. Obviously, that's a ridiculous sample size. But the fact that the only sample size Ozzie gets is one game a month whether he gives up 5 goals or 1 goal just proves the point that Ozzie doesn't get a real chance to show he deserves to play.

OZZIE HASN'T PLAYED.

Eva... in Osgood's last 66 games he has posted an .891 save percentage and 2.96 GAA. Why in the world, when the Wings need points more than they have in the past 15 years, would Babcock start Osgood routinely? There's no time now for him to "find his groove" over multiple starts. He's got to put up or shut up and he hasn't done that consistently in a (regular) season and a half.

Howard has really shown the potential that he was drafted on. Let's see what happens in the playoffs.
