GMRwings1983 8,804 Report post Posted January 20, 2010 Weirdest team in hockey the last decade. They either make the playoffs and go on long runs, or they don't make it at all. That's pretty weird, considering how on paper, they're pretty much the same team every year with the same players. There's no reason they should win the Cup in 2006, and then miss the playoffs the next few years with basically the same players. Last year they had that great run to the ECF, and now once again they're struggling, with virtually the same team. Bizzarre organization.

Chris Osgood 2.0; unremarkable in regular season, nuts in the playoffs. Good season for Ward, they make it to the playoffs then go on a long, Cam-carried run. Otherwise.. It's not just Ward... they really are a bizarre organization...
mjlegend 155 Report post Posted January 21, 2010 This is kind of a sad way for Brind'Amour to fizzle out. He just won't quit, which is in some ways admirable but it still sucks he can't quite do it this year like the last couple of years. I hope he can Nieuwendyk his way into mid-season retirement and join somebody's front office.
Kwame_Kilpatrick 0 Report post Posted January 21, 2010 i think they are a good club, the struggles are just bad luck. staal is a good player and leader so its good to build around him as the leader, but sometimes i think they need more help for him on offense. the defense has always been pretty okay i think, idk i do not watch them but i get a good vibe. also ward is a good goalie i will always rate him, i would have him over ozzie he is better than ozzie ever was, clutch player and young what more can you ask for. luckily we have howie so we dont need him

Ozzie has a better career Goals Against Average and Save Percentage than Ward. Add to that, Ozzie has 3 Stanley Cup rings and is closing in on 400 career wins. Ward, is a loooong way away from Chris Osgood territory.

CenterIce 83 Report post Posted January 21, 2010 Looks like Carolina have also asked Whitney and Wallin to waive their no trade clauses, and they and Matt Cullen, Scott Walker, Stephane Yelle, Andrew Alberts, Aaron Ward and Manny Legace could be on the trade block. http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=306922
