Have you guys seen this yet? Some of the pros (Malkin, Gonchar, Byfuglien) are wearing new skates from a company called MLX. I came across the site today, and it looks like they're looking for testers before the skates become available for retail. Could be a cool opportunity. Right now they are only available to the NHL guys though unfortunately.

I like how much protection they have. It looks like a cool idea. I DO realize they are prototypes, but there is something really ugly about them, but then again, maybe its just that the guy who is modelling them in the pics looks like he is wearing black pantyhose. :scared:

I actually think they look pretty sweet. Aesthetically, they are a good mix between simple and flashy. Not too much of either one.

I noticed he had different skates. I was thinking they were Eastons.

Yeah that's what a lot of people originally thought, but then the word stared spreading how they were a new type of skates, the same one's Gonchar has been wearing since last year except Gonchar's are all black.

They look like tanks. I mean, they show how flexible they can be above the ankle, but I bet they're rock hard around the foot. According to them they mold perfectly to your foot, but a lot of companies say that. They aren't the first to come out with the one-piece shell. I guess I'd like to hear more about them, see what the NHLers say. Usually skates will kill your feet for a while before they break in, I'd be interested if these cut that time down.

Yeah, from what I understand, a big thing about the skates is the fact that they are using a new, different type of material in the boot that allows it to mold easier, and better to the foot. I think that the NHLers so far like them because all of the ones that have switched to them, have stuck with them and have not gone back to their old skates.

No goalie skates?

Tsk, tsk.

haha yeah well I guess they first have to get these out to the market to start. Then maybe they'll start coming out with other skates. Might have to wait a while for goalie skates though

Someone needs to get Mario a new logo for these bad boys.

Weird cuz I actually thought the logo looked pretty sick. not like all the other ones that all look the same like Bauer and Reebok where its just the name with no real design to it

To be fair, both Bauer and Reebok have logos. They just use their wordmarks more often. That's irrelevant, though. It's just very "stock" looking and a little over done with the whole stencil thing.

edit: Having said all that, it has nothing to do with the skates themselves. Carry on.
