Guest CaliWingsNut Report post Posted January 25, 2010 I have to agree with you on the Bab's throwing him into the shootout early theory. I would have gotten off his back if he scored there, but unfortunately he didn't. Miller did, which pretty much sells me on that guy, not that I wasn't pretty much for him over Ville anyway. People are saying give Leino a summer to allow him to build up and I agree that wouldn't hurt. However, he gave himself high hopes coming into this year just to disappoint all parties involved, so it could happen again. This makes little sense when you consider it's been Lilja's task while out injured to make the shootout list (though I'm sure Babcock checks it). Truth of the matter is, no one here is considering the obvious. They are just noticing that miller has scored a few, and that's LEino's stats look like crap across the board this year. No one seems to be considering that the team has been playing defensively. Dats, Z, & Lids has been next to non-existant on the score sheet this season for the same reason. Leino is an offensive rookie (not a two-way rookie). If the red wings were built to play hockey like this, Leino wouldn't have a place on the roster, but the Red Wings don't normally play like this. You guys seem to have forgotten quickly the days of a 3d line scorer on the Red Wings.
Pucks 66 Report post Posted January 25, 2010 (edited) Guys Lilja doesn't decide who gets to be in the shootouts. He organizes the shootouts in practice. It's his job to organize them and make sure the players practice them. LOL Edited January 25, 2010 by Pucks

uk_redwing 495 Report post Posted January 30, 2010 Surely we could at least trade Leino for a late round draft pick? Toronto have been doing stupid trades and giving away their picks for nothing...maybe they could make one more lousy trade for old times?
stevie12 5 Report post Posted January 30, 2010 Based on Salary Cap numbers for when we have our full lineup back, Miller is clearly the go-to guy. He's been looking a lot more comfortable with the added ice time he's been getting. Leino would make a great deadline pick up, for perhaps a defenseman (see you Lebda)

Zeta Power 40 1 Report post Posted January 30, 2010 It's MILLER TIME! Drew Miller for sure. He works his ass off and he's not afraid to get hit. Leino doesn't try and he's scared to go into the corners. He just coast's every shift. I would trade him for a washing machine, he's that bad.

titanium2 867 Report post Posted January 30, 2010 Holy triple post Batman! I like how after Drew scored the game winning shootout goal that Ken Daniels said to Murphy, "Your favorite phrase, 'It's Miller Time!'"
