So with Calgary playing St Louis tonight, things don't look that good.. We may be looking in from farther back. Unless we get going on a streak, I think the next week or two will really determine if we have a shot of making the playoffs..

Does anyone else feel this way? We've been saying this after 10, 20, 30, 40 games and here we still are, on the outside..

This may not be the time to panic, but if we don't get a string of wins, and some help by losses of crucial teams.. then it may certainly be.

Or do I just need some xanax?

I'm still gonna say that if we can just hang around 8th/9th and in striking range of a couple of teams above us when it's time for the olympic break we're in a good position.. then we can start on a new leaf with Franzen and hopefully everyone else back and get on a roll.

But it would of course be really good if we could get a bit of a winning streak here to get in a better position before the break. We had a big chance here lately, imagine if we had won the shootouts against Chicago and Dallas, kept the 2 goal lead against the Kings and scored on our chances against the Caps. We could be in like 5th or 6th easily.

Right now, the Wings are ranked pretty good on defense, with all the 3rd and 4th liners they are playing. They are second to last in goals scored. Once some of these injured goal scorers come back, I think we should be pretty good. Keep the defensive mindset, but get the guys who score goals scoring.

This. You summed up pretty much exactly what I was going to say. The points in the shootouts definitely didn't kill us, but it would have been a lot nicer to get those 2 extra points, as well as 4 more from Washington and LA. Definitely a disappointment.

lawl. do you really think we won't make the playoffs? By the end of the week every single injured player, except Franzen, will be back. Mule will be back by Mar 1. By mid march we will be one of the best in the league. We will most likely be a 4 or 5 seed

I look at it this way too...as defensemen come back from injury, THAT may help the scoring as well, as we'll have a better breakout from the zone.

Especially Kronwall - his absence has made me appreciate just how underrated he is.

It'll be nice when the wings have a 2nd PP unit again!

I am very confident the Red Wings will make the playoffs. I am not too thrilled with their recent habit of blowing leads and leaving valuable points on the table though.

This week of games is huge. Phoenix, Minnesota, Nashville and then Pittsburgh. The Red Wings need to ride the momentum of getting healthy bodies back and win these games before another tough West Coast trip.

Franzen coming back eventually, more home games down the stretch. The other Western Conference teams are collectively very displeased.
