On a positive outlook

Ok so anyone who has seen me bitching in the GDT's about the wings and most notably the refs lol, you might find what I'm about to say a contradiction to my previous statements which i made in the heat of the game.

I think people need to lighten up on the guys. Give them a small amount of time to gel as a team again. They were getting into a groove before the injured wings started coming back and that seems to be all thrown off now. My theory is that there is just too much line juggling going on for them to build chemistry with a line and gel. I have a feeling that, after this olympic break the team will have had some time to just get their heads on AS A TEAM and come back and play the last bit of the season energized and ready. Now, I could be blowing smoke out my own ass and just trying to be optimistic but, I still believe in the boys. What do you guys all think? Serious answers only please.

The only thing positive right now is that they're only 7 points out the fourth spot. That isn't bad at all but they really need to put a little streak together ASAP and I firmly believe this road trip coming up is going to make or break em'.And when you really look at guys we're 16 points behind Chicago....16.That's 8 games. Is that really a BIG difference when you look at it? With all those injuries we've had there's only a 8 game difference.

Positivity is frowned upon at LGW.

I started a thread where Babcock really tried to accentuate the positive. It didn't even get 10 replies before it was forgotten. But if Chris Osgood makes a dramatic comment then you'll risk LGW server overload. Everybody is a drama queen I guess.

All I know is that if we're gonna miss the playoffs, we better be WAY out of it. To me, 9th place is just as bad as 15th except 9th place doesn't reap all the benefits that 15th place gets to. If we don't make it, I hope we can at least finish as low as possible.......seriously. It's been a while since the Wings had a high round draft pick :).

This is so true. I rather finish dead last then miss the playoffs by one point. Boy, that would be so tragic.

I've been saying it all year long. Once they get healthy and have some time to play together they'll be fine. Getting healthy is step one, not the cure-all. On paper the team will look much better but they'll need some time to start playing their style of hockey again and get their legs under them.

I'm still optimistic, every game they are in it, usually losing by 1 goal. If they play like this with Franzen(+1 week readjustment period) in the lineup then I'll get worried.

this team will benefit from the Mike Fisher factor, where once he gets the teams 2nd defensive pair he does well (as long as alfie and speeza get the 1st defensive pair), if he is the main guy he doesn't.

flip, helm, eaves will benefit greatly from not having to go up against the best players.
