Chris Osgood appreciates Jimmy Howard's rise

Both Ozzie and Howard have stated multiple times all year how important their relationship has been to Howard's growth. Howard last year before going back to GR mentioned something about learning to handle the game like Ozzie.

I said this years ago, Ozzie will be the best mentor available to Howard, he can teach Howard the most important part of the game for a goalie, mental toughness, especially in Detroit.

This is sad that it needed to be written. In his outbursts to the press, Ozzie never said anything at all about Howard. They were always relating to his playing time. He never said he deserved to start, he just wanted to not go a month without playing.

He's always been a class act who understands the relationship between backup and starter, regardless of which one he is.

And yes, we do owe it to Ozzie to give him 4 more wins. Hopefully we can get some cushion in the playoff race to give them to him.

It is amazing to me that somebody can always be so positive when he has been ripped by the media and fans for his entire career... No matter what anybody says, Ozzie is the epitome of why the Red Wings have been successful the past couple decades. He is ALL about the team.

I'm not sure which game it was.....might have been the Fox Sport's post game interview in the locker room with Howard after the Nashville game. Anyways, by listening to Howard talk, it sounded very much like what Ozzie would say after such a game. Howard is his own person, but I could hear the mentoring of Ozzie coming through in what Howard said. I think Howard has a great teacher in Ozzie.

Osgood's a good guy, really?!

With that last thread about his comments on playing time, I never would have thought! Maybe it wasn't the right way to go about it but the fans at least need to respect him when he has something to say. He deserves that much.

It's amazing some of the things said about him here, and it really shows some of the "fans" true colors. There are teams around the league that deal with much worse with players being unhappy or saying stupid things (Heatley, Phaneuf, now Kotalik, Avery debacle last year and the list goes on)

I know this season has brought in a lot of frustration, but some of you should be ashamed of yourselves. Osgood loves this team no matter what and that's more than I can say about some of you.
