Is anyone watching the Caps and Pens

I'm amazed that Orpik got a game misconduct for complaining. Is this something we should expect from now on or is it just a one time occurrence where the league can point out, "See, we do our jobs" and all that BS?

Verbal abuse of an official usually leads to a game misconduct, doesn't it?

The Pens won't repeat if they bump up against the Caps this year, which may not be until the ECF. But they won't beat Washington. I'd go to Vegas and bet my soul on it.

I would think Washington would be the favorite. BUT the Penguins have a better defense and goaltending. Marc-Andre could steal a series, even though he sucks.

It at first leads to a penalty for unsportsman like conduct but than can escalate to a game misconduct.

Look at Fluerry's stats-- he's the definition of average. Easily the most mediocre 1st overall pick in recent history. Not a bust but he plays like he should've be picked a round later. Look who was picked after him in the 1st.

True. At one play during the game, Ovi gets a very light shove to his side and he goes down hard to the ice and lays there trying to draw a penalty while the play goes back to his zone. He then gets up after he realized no penalty would be called and the announcers call him a "trooper". That is embarrassing soccer diving and should have no place in this game. Datsyuk, Zetterberg, and Lidstrom would never dive like that. They would just get up and keep playing.

You misspelled Sidney.

Man, so much hate of the best team in the league.

Jealously is such a funny thing.

Crosby is an amazing player, as is Ovechkin. Deal with it.

Hate of the best team in the league? Your trolling schemes don't even work anymore man. The Pens aren't even the 2nd best team in their own conference, let alone the entire league.

Sorry I'm under the impression that you are the champion until there is crowned another champion. Regular season only means so much.

They have God's gift to hockey as their team captain, don't you know.

I'm not even saying that.

They proved they were the best team last year, and until someone beats them in the playoffs they will remain.

Much like the Wing's were the top team in 08'

I don't see the big deal here...

When your team is allowed to bend the rules, it usually equals an advantage over the opposition.

Well then don't watch hockey if you think the game is tampered.

It most be horrible to not enjoy the excitement of something unexpected happening.

Crosby dives and whines. Fact, too bad for the fanboys, because Ovechkin dives and whines just as much nowadays. There the 2 best players in hockey today, get used to it.

Funny though, I dont believe in either team. Pittsburgh were embarrasing the Caps until the Ovechkin show started and then the Penguins didnt look like they should be in the building. The East is wide open.

So the Wings are currently the best team in the West this year and the second best team in the league, right? :sly:

No they're not. Sedin is better than Crosby today and Thronton/Backstrom are only one point back.

Ovechkin is undoubtable better than Crosby, yes, but Crosby's not #2. He's scratching and clawing for #3.

Ovechkin is crusing at 1.69 points per game. Crosby? 1.28 ppg. Ovi's production is 32% better. As in he produces nearly a third more points. As in Ovechkin produces 132% of the points does.

Ovechkin has the highest +/- in the league-- +41. Crosby? An amazing +7.

Ovechkin has as many take-aways as give-aways. Crosby has twice as many give-aways as take-aways. His defensive superiority to Ovechkin is a laughable myth. The statistics don't lie-- Ovechkin's more responsible with the puck. FACT.

Ovechkin is just out of Crosby's league. Head to head today Ovi dominated Crosby again. Crosby-- 2 goals in the first. What does Ovi do? He answers back with 3 goals and has the primary assist on the game winner.

If Ovechkin was born in Canada and Crosby in Russia this debate would've ended two MVP trophies ago. When Ovechkin wins his third consecutive Hart this year the "debate" still won't die.

It's sad that nationality should even matter because Ovechkin sits on a separate, distinct tier that Crosby can't touch. Sorry Sid-- you've been dominated 4 out of 5 years by Ovi. You had one superior season but since then Ovechkin's been your daddy.

Let me know when a Winger like Hull is more important than a Center like Yzerman.

lol So you've been reduced to position again.

I guess Ryan Millar's the best player in the game.

He is the top goalie right now, and he plays the most important position...

Edit: I like you Carman-- sparing about this is fun. I hope you don't take it personal. :)

I actually think Miller would win the Hart, granted his last few starts might have hurt his chances.

Ovechkin is getting better defensively though I'll give him that.

I still value a key faceoff man and center that can put up the comparable numbers to the winger in the comparison everytime.

When was the last time a Winger lead a team on a playoff run?

Hossa was one off Crosby's team lead in 08... Heatley was amazing for Ottowa in 07 (tied team lead)... Tampa would not have won a cup without Modin or St. Louis (the center Vinny was virtually nonexistent).... Where would Calgary get in the playoffs without Iginla?.... etc etc

This year? Ovi's lead his team on a 14 game winning streak. I have a hard time imagining they'll flame out in the playoffs. Last year Ovi was the single most productive player in the playoffs with 1.5 points per game. He took a superior Pens team to game 7. Now he's on the superior team... :D

Exception of St Louis, what do all those guys have in common? There losers.

I'll agree with Drake on Gordie Howe, and also any of the older wingers (Richard, Lafleur, etc.) But in most cases, it does take the great center to lead his team.
