I to love the song and even use the opening of it for my cell phone ringtone. As for the South Detroit reference, who cares. It's just a song. Quit taking it to literally and just enjoy the music and Steve Perrys voice. And yes, I'm from Detroit. I was born in the city and have lived in the Detroit area all of my 62 yrs.
