edicius 3,269 Report post Posted February 10, 2010 Turco's done in Dallas. Exactly what I was thinking as well. Now I'm just curious if he's going to Atlanta in the trade or if they have another team lined up for Turco.
wingsdiehard13 33 Report post Posted February 10, 2010 Exactly what I was thinking as well. Now I'm just curious if he's going to Atlanta in the trade or if they have another team lined up for Turco. I'm wondering the same. I can't imagine Turco would want to go to Atlanta, I believe he has a NTC.

Jedi 1,865 Report post Posted February 10, 2010 Sounds like it's all but a done deal. Just waiting on the call with the NHL. http://tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=309569 The Atlanta Thrashers are set to announce that they have traded goalie Kari Lehtonen to the Dallas Stars for defenceman Ivan Vishnevskiy and a fourth-round draft pick. The deal is in place, and is expected to be made official in a trade call with the NHL following the Stars-Blackhawks game tonight. Lehtonen, 26, was recalled by Atlanta on Tuesday after completing a conditioning assignment with the Chicago Wolves of the AHL. The Finnish backstop has not played this season after undergoing back surgery on Sept. 16. Over four seasons with the Thrashers, Lehtonen compiled a record of 94-83-17 with 14 shutouts. He led Atlanta to the franchise's only playoff appearance in 2006-07. Lehtonen was originally drafted by the Thrashers with the second pick in the 2002 draft, after the Columbus Blue Jackets drafted Rick Nash first overall. He is completing the final year of a two-year, $6 million contract, and will become a restricted free agent at the end of the season. Vishnevskiy, 21, was drafted by the Stars in the first round (27th overall) in the 2006 draft. The defenceman has spent the past two seasons shuttling between Dallas and the AHL. In five NHL contests, Vishnevskiy has two assists and two penalty minutes. He has eight goals and 16 assists in 51 games this season with the Texas Stars of the AHL. Majsheppard 203 Report post Posted February 10, 2010 I say bs, because Turco is playing right now. No team would risk playing a guy with a deal close to being done. What if Turco tears his ACL in the game?!? No way.
Majsheppard 203 Report post Posted February 10, 2010 BTW if it is true, would that be a degrade of a second overall pick.

What if Turco tears his ACL in the game?!? No way. What exactly does Turco (potentially) tearing his ACL have to do with this trade? Edit: I understand your point, but not as you stated it. He wasn't part of the Atlanta/Dallas deal. However, talks of Turco going to Philadelphia are ongoing, according to Nick Kypreos. Tane 17 Report post Posted February 10, 2010 What exactly does Turco (potentially) tearing his ACL have to do with this trade? If Turco Tears his ACL in the First Period, Atlanta would back out of the deal.
wingsdiehard13 33 Report post Posted February 10, 2010 If Turco Tears his ACL in the First Period, Atlanta would back out of the deal. Why? He wouldn't be Atlanta's problem.

Feldmarschall 9 Report post Posted February 10, 2010 Atlanta is sending Lehtonen to Dallas for Ivan Vishnevskiy and a fourth-round draft pick. Turco has nothing to do with that deal. This is basic stuff. If Turco rips up his ACL, Dallas loses their starting goaltender. Doesn't it figure that they'd get a little bit more desperate for assets, have to spend a bit more? Other teams (in this case, Atlanta) would know that Dallas is pressed for options, and they'd raise the price accordingly. Dallas would be on the ropes, they've got no choice if they want their guy. mjlegend 155 Report post Posted February 10, 2010 So Turco's bound to be a rental now. Here's hoping someone like Nabokov tears his ACL, and the Sharks need a high priced goalie, and the Wings sneak into eighth place...

They do have a farm team. It's quite simple, if Turco were to go down with an injury and Atlanta decided to jack up their 'prices', Dallas would back out if they weren't willing to cough up as much as Atlanta wanted. Although I still don't agree that Atlanta would demand much more. Oh and by the way, were going back 'n fourth for nothing . My initial post was a response to Majsheppard saying the rumor was BS. Which it's obviously not, plus Turco (to my knowledge hasn't torn his ACL).

And Turco's knee survived his game and the following shootout.
Drake_Marcus 890 Report post Posted February 10, 2010 That's an overpayment for a goalie who makes Gaborik look like an iron man. Vishnevskiy straight up would be a tough sell for me if I'm in Dallas.

Here's hoping someone like Nabokov tears his ACL, and the Sharks need a high priced goalie, and the Wings sneak into eighth place... Why? We own Nabokov. That'd the one goalie I want the Wings to face constantly. I hope Kiprusoff can tear his ACL, so we can sneak into 8th place, period.
Guest Howard He Do It?! Report post Posted February 10, 2010 Turco could end up in Philly. Their goalie situation is an absolute mess.

dragonballgtz 273 Report post Posted February 10, 2010 Detroit could use a goalie too You would want Turco? Well maybe...he can play decent in the regular season then I guess we will throw Ozzie in net come playoffs if we make it. Its the perfect combo
russianswede919293 95 Report post Posted February 10, 2010 I don't get this trade. A promising young defenseman and a pick for a goalie that has only had one season of being entirely healthy... Don't get it at all.
