Guest micah Report post Posted February 15, 2010 Hah .. hows that working out? Toulfson wont see a minute of ice time in Detroit as long as everyone is healthy .. It's working out awesome, actually. The wings got rid of a guy who isn't good enough to play on the team now that it's healthy again for a cheaper guy who also isn'y good enough to play on a healthy Wings team, but will provide some fun in GR and maybe even with the big club if we fall short of making the postseason. I loved the Tollefsen trade... at least he skates hard every shift... I just hope he re-signs in the offseason and is willing to play in GR as long as given a chance to win a spot out of camp... I think he's just been a victim of bad systems (Columbus, then Phi - both pretty poor at developing defensmen)
Guest micah Report post Posted February 15, 2010 I never really got the point of him being on the team.. All I saw was the entertainment factor.. the guy was never on the ice when anything did happen.. Steve Ott can run are guys all game long .. whats the likelyhood of May getting on the ice whens Ott's out there? slim to none I would have thought that the coach could tap any player on the shoulder at anytime. Have you really never seen a guy xcome off the bench and almost immediately get into a scrap with some? The chances of May being on the ice with Ott are very low when May isn't dressed though, I give you that. Babs once noted that toughguys always play tough and that he's okay with that - but against the weakling Wings, he was sick of other teams' weaklings actaing toughwhen they played us. He gave May a tryout - saw that the opponent's weaklings started leaving out weaklings alone, and signed May. It was a good year for May, and a nice cap to a long, succesful career. Hopefully he lifts the Cup this year just like Stanley Cup Champions Sidney Crosby and Eric Godard did last year!

As fun as that might be, it would be a disaster.
GMRwings1983 8,804 Report post Posted February 15, 2010 Teams stopped dressing enforcers against us for some reason, thus May had no one to fight. Also, Steve Ott would never fight May. If not for the instigator rule, things would likely be different, but May couldn't just grab Ott and start pounding on him. Then people here would ***** that May cost us a game with his stupid penalty. Seems like the anti-enforcer posters want it both ways. Doesn't work like that. The team around May failed him there. A shame really, I would have loved to have seen the Wings play top potential and gotten to see May tee off on Ott. Louisville 112 Report post Posted February 15, 2010 (edited) The amount of time and space between when Bradley passes the puck and is hit by Janssen is crazy. They say "don't admire your pass" but that is just ridiculous. Edited February 15, 2010 by Louisville

I don't understand the continued hate on Lils... Lilja is one of the most consistent defensive defensemen on this team when healthy, Ericsson is still growing and WILL get better and I've watched enough of Tollefsen to know I'd rather have him on the ice than Lebda (hell I'd rather have a bear on skates on D than Lebda at this point)

Guest micah Report post Posted February 16, 2010 Put Janik into that group as well and I'm sold. Can two of them play forward? If May would be recalled and able to take the occasional faceoff (hey, PJ Stock did, how hard can it be?), that would be a defensively sound bang-up line.
