The Secret 304 Report post Posted March 23, 2010 The new line combo's that have been put together looked pretty darn good last night. I especially liked the Fil-Zet-Bert line. The only negatives that stuck with me from last game was Rafalski's turn overs and all the juicy rebounds and mad scrambles by Howard in the crease. Things are starting to look like they are settling in... Keep it up boys!
PROBIE4PREZ 58 Report post Posted March 23, 2010 The past couple games Raffi has been turning the puck over with the same play ... he goes behind our net with speed on his back hand and tries to flip a outlet pass to the winger on the boards... hes pry 0/45 right bout now hah ... anyways its leading to turnovers inside our zone

I'm not anti Rafalski but I think he can clean up his game significantly. I'm not sure of its a lingering issue I have from his first stint in Detroit but I hate Williams on this team again! Maybe I just don't like him I don't know, I can't even give you a spicific instance or reason why but I just find him to be completely useless? Does anyone else? Green Wing 26 Report post Posted March 23, 2010 (edited) Before Cleary was hurt, I kinda wanted the Fil-Zet-Bert line, despite Bert's barren spell. That line is looking very good. I'd keep it together, and let Cleary get back in form on the 3rd line once he's healthy again. The Rafalski turnover for the goal was irritating, because he really skated back with speed to get there and still had time to look both ways. He should have played it safe and put it around the empty side. He tends to look to make a play too often, but I don't think he probably would have made that play if it were the playoffs. I don't like Williams at all. It's not that he's a liability or anything, he just doesn't make his presence felt out there. He does have the ability to score though, so I guess having a guy like that on the lower lines might be useful - like the way they played Hudler at certain times. Not a fan though. edit- typos abound Edited March 23, 2010 by Green Wing

I think this is why I don't like him, You nailed it! I really think he can play harder and better... I think its a big piss off that he doesn't. Same reason why I didn't like Lang. For a big man Lang played like a little girl and you know for a fact he is a big strong boy but it drove me nuts that he didn't play like it.
Finnish Wing 110 Report post Posted March 23, 2010 Let's just hope that first line does well too. I just noticed that Datsyuk has only 60 points. Franzen-Datsyuk-Holmstrom Filppula-Zetterberg-Bertuzzi Miller-Cleary-Williams Draper-Helm-Eaves I think anyone of the 3rd line guys could play center. Aussie_Wing 354 Report post Posted March 23, 2010 I was very impressed with Stuart last night, I think he's getting back to his early season form. At full strength: Franzen - Dats - Homer Filppula - Hank - Bert Eaves - Helm - Cleary Williams - Draper - Miller Swap Draper onto the 3rd if you want to keep the DEH line in tact, which I can see happening, but does anyone really think Cleary will go to the 4th? Doubt it. Let's just hope that first line does well too. I just noticed that Datsyuk has only 60 points. I think Eaves and Helm deserve to be more than 4th liners, but what can you do? Miller's play of late has been terrific and a fully fit Cleary is obviously better than a 4th liner. As much as I'd like to see Eaves and Helm get more ice time, especially over Williams at times, I think we're going to see: Franzen - Datsyuk - Holmstrom Filppula - Zetterberg - Bertuzzi Cleary - Miller - Williams Draper - Helm - Eaves All things fair, as much as Williams frustrates me with his uninspired play most of the time, I thought he played pretty hard last night and he actualyl threw a few hits and generated a couple of chances. if he keeps playing the way he played last night and you throw Cleary on the third line suddenly that line looks pretty decent. Persaonlly I actually think that third line would have some decent chemistry and they could grind it out and should work out decently defensively (at worst not be a liability). To me, those are the best line combos especially cause Fil and Franzen can be interchanged at anytime to mix things up if things arent working.
13dangledangle 968 Report post Posted March 23, 2010 (edited) Franzen - Datsyuk - Holmstrom Filppula - Zetterberg - Bertuzzi Cleary - Miller - Williams Draper - Helm - Eaves I like these ones, no way Cleary is on center over Miller (i saw it somewhere)but I also think to energize the bottom six~if need be~babcock just needs to toss a gernade on lines 3 and 4, alot of those combos would be effective for example: Eaves~Helm~Willams Miller~Draper~Cleary Edited March 23, 2010 by 13dangledangle
Hossa4Life 4 Report post Posted March 23, 2010 babcock said in his post game interview that he liked the zet bert filppula line and he was going to keep them together and drop cleary to the third line with williams and miller.
Pucks 66 Report post Posted March 23, 2010 Hank and Val are really playing well right now. That line has looked so much better now that Cleary is off of it. Cleary just has never been the same since he got his face broken. I've really like the play of Miller since he been put at center. He's skating well and creating chances every shift. Something is starting to click with Ericsson, he's looked so steady the past few games, even jumping up into the play at good moments. Howard continues to shine. He's one of the best first save goalies in the world right now IMO. He gives you nothing to shoot at but the outline of the goal. 1 T-bone reacted to this
