Wings4Life19 150 Report post Posted April 11, 2010 the 2009 penguins finished their season going 16-2-3 35pts in their final 21 games the 2010 wings finished their season going 16-3-2 34pts in their final 21 games the 2009 penguins final record was 45-29-9 99pts 4th in east the 2010 wings final record was 44-24-14 102 pts 5th in west kinda spooky how similar they are, and considering they both are coming off a loss in the cup final it kind of seems like the wings are repeating what pitt did a year ago
crotty99 302 Report post Posted April 11, 2010 I was just thinking this. Lets hope the result is the same
VM1138 1,921 Report post Posted April 11, 2010 I think it can happen. The WIngs have dropped most of their bad habits from earlier this year. Depending (as usual) on how the first round goes, I can see the Wings making the finals again. I hope. The Wings just seem built for the playoffs, unlike most other teams. Marty Barry 230 Report post Posted April 11, 2010 Add to that the Pens HAVE to be even more tired of all the Cindy media than we are. Hell, they play better without him. Should be a message to Buttman, but he only hears what he wants to.
Carman 387 Report post Posted April 12, 2010 Not really, Penguins had a proven playoff goaltender and the two best player in the game. Meanwhile our best scorer can't even crack the top 25 this year and was outscored by a defenseman. Wings are a completely different team with very different strengths and weaknesses. Everything but the record is different.

Everything but the record is different. To be fair the record is what this thread was about. Regarding the goal scoring, I was amazed today to find out during the game from Ken, that this is the first time since 97-98 that we havn't had a 30 goal scorer. The fact that we have gone so many years with 30 goal scorers doesn't surprise me. But the fact that we didnt have any one hit 30 during a stanley cup year was interesting to hear. Both lost in the Finals after winning the Winter Classic Both lost Hossa and Conklin less than a month after losing the Cup Both started their seasons in Sweden Both lost a major contributor in October and didn't get him back till March (Gonchar and Franzen) At this rate, we'll be playing against a much better team in June, but their injuries will prevent them from blowing us out of the water and we'll win the Cup with very little contributions from Z or Dats. BamaWing 37 Report post Posted April 12, 2010 Would be simply amazing to take back the Cup and especially after everything we went through this season. I'm just gonna take the playoffs one game at a time
