Probert was unstoppable! I always like watching the clip where Probie gets a job in on Foreskin and Adam Foote came after him and Probie ended up pounding on him. Remember when Maguire fought Yzerman, and Probert was going nuts. The Sabres goalie was in his way, and he punched his helmet off and got a shot in on Maguire.Classic.

Absolutely. The Joe was going nuts. Probie went nuts. My dad talks about this too and I always remember him saying, "That is exactly how you protect Stevie. Probie wouldn't even let a random person come up and ask for an autograph". lol

Hell yeah it was. Add Kocur in there and ohhh boy Stevie never took abuse. That's how it should be. That's how it still is, except Detroit 
I'm really pulling for Downey. I'm sick of seeing Dats and Z get pushed around.Abdelkader is a start, but he'll never be anything more than an agitator.

Stevie had the advantage of having two willing combatants on his line for some years in the 80s in Gallant and Probert. The current roster doesn't really have anything to offer, and Downey certainly doesn't have the same combination of skill and toughness that they had.

The Yzerman-Maguire incident is my favorite, but it's not really a fight. It was so damn dirty (and I loved it for that), but it showed what a good teammate Probie was.
My favorite actual fight of his is when he drops Semenko as revenge for Semenko jumping him a little while back.
And of course I love seeing him beat the piss out of Dave Brown.

Yup - my favorite Probie fight as well...You can tell how much Stevie appreciated having Bob around by his "title fight belt" gesture as Domi went to the pen box.At the 1:37 mark... Atta boy #19
Mickey would suffer a heart attack from excitement if the Red Wings iced a guy like Probert these days; at least he'd go out with a smile on his face
