Booster313 138 Report post Posted September 22, 2010 Here are some design facts about the new 40th anniversary jersey. - The royal blue color of the third jersey reflects the original Sabres jersey that debuted in 1970. (This is acceptable) - The “Buffalo” script wordmark was inspired by the old Buffalo Bisons “bottlecap” logo. (They should have left if old and forgotten for a reason!) - The choice of an off-white color for the Buffalo script was to give the jersey a vintage feel. (I didn't notice the offwhite because the rest of it was so ugly.) - There are four stripes on the sleeves, socks and around the waist that represent 40 years of Sabres hockey. (Fine with this too) - A commemorative 40th anniversary “1970” logo sits below the Buffalo script. (Should have made it the main logo) - The faux felt numbers have a unique cross stitched pattern in reference to early pro hockey jerseys (Just because hockey players who had no idea how to sew, used to sew their own numbers doesn't mean we should repeat it. )
ChitownWingsfan 54 Report post Posted September 22, 2010 Those blue jerseys are awful. Wow. The other two are meh. I like the numbers on the front and the classic logo but thats about it.

_Kabrok_ 5 Report post Posted September 22, 2010 Am I seriously the only person on the planet who hates the original Sabres logo? I mean it's better than the buffaslug but that's like saying someone is 'better than Hitler'. It's like they couldn't think of an actual logo so they just tossed the team name elements into a circle and hoped they'd somehow work together. I mean imagine if this was the Red Wings' logo: http://img706.imageshack.us/i/1232931611582.png/
Travis 576 Report post Posted September 22, 2010 I don't at all mind the throwback jerseys, keeping in mind that they'll only wear them a handful of times. The new home and road jerseys are major improvements. I'm super into jersey designs in various sports, but there's a really good blog about hockey here. The Ducks are also going to unveil new 3rds this year as well as the Blue Jackets.
nate94gt 134 Report post Posted September 22, 2010 A very good friend of mine owns one of these jerseys. It's just as hideous as the picture makes it out to be.i Courtesy of Puck Daddy. Wtf. They didn't use that in a game did they? I don't ever recall seeing such a hideous Jersey that had the wings logo

I don't ever recall seeing such a hideous Jersey that had the wings logo No, the Wings never wore a jersey like that. The blue jersey, IIRC, was part of a line of "fashion" jerseys made by Starter. They took a half dozen NHL jerseys, and changed up the colors, and tried selling them. I think they were all hideous, from what I remember.
