rocket was the best one imo

Its theme is "the karate kid on ice"? Forgive me if I'm unimpressed.

Myself and some friends have worked on a script for a hockey movie and are currently working on finding a studio suitor and some funding from various outlets. The working title is The Production Line.... now that is a REAL hockey movie.....

Chalk me up with Miracle being my favorite.

As far as this already being labeled "Best Hockey Movie" makes me skeptical...What is it? The terms of Kevin Smith's movie with Mitch Albom already require it to be shot here, right? So what's this all about? Excuse me for only scanning over this...

"Karate Kid on ice"?

were forgetting the classic.....slapshot

Very true, I watched that on Netflix Instant last night, actually. Miracle is still by far my favorite, though. I worked for touring bands for a couple of years and we actually got to play at Ace's a couple of times. Let me say. I LOVE Ace. I did merch in a wedding veil that he gave me one night. Amazing experience!!

mighty ducks 3 "D3" is definitely the third best hockey movie ever, with mighty ducks and mighty ducks "D2" in first and second respectively.

slapshot is classic, yes, but gordon bombay and charlie conway destroy everything else.

add goldberg in net, danny tamborelli, and that guy fulton reed who'se obviously 20 and not 13, and you have the perfect hockey movie, and an awesome trilogy.

plus mike modano was in the first movie.

he has about 30 seconds of screen time and a short line directed at emilio estevez when gordon bombay brings the team to the met center where the north stars played.

On a side note what's going on with Kevin Smith and Mitch Albom's hockey movie that is supposed to be shot here in Detroit?

I read that its written but pre production and filming hasnt gone down yet, id assume a good time to do that would probably be the winter as far as filming goes if the majority is supposed to be filmed here.

i really hate that sean william scott dude, but this movie sounds awesome regardless of that.

Call me crazy, but I'm not that psyched for it. Sean William Scott is obnoxious as hell and Kevin Smith hasn't made a decent movie in 15 years. That its shot in Detroit is incidental (heard it wasn't SET in Detroit), and it is supposedly about a fictitious minor league team.

Maybe this criticism is all too "filmy" but I'm not sure that Smith's comedic strengths and affinity for the sport can make up for his inadequacies as a writer and director.

What band did you merch for?

I'll agree with anyone who's said Miracle is their favorite hockey movie. I watched it 3 times in one night once while doing homework. Mystery, Alaska is good, too. I loved the Mighty Ducks when I was a kid, and they're cool movies - but definitely don't compare.

A bunch of smaller rock and metal bands. The one I went to Ace's with was Soil.

And I agree on Miracle, I'll stand my ground on that one. I have a couple movies on my hard drive for when my internet goes out here at school and Miracle is the one I always watch. I wasn't alive for the real thing, but I don't think I could ask for a movie like that to be done any better. I think I'll watch it again now! haha

Oh and as far as the Kevin Smith movie, I heard he got funding for another movie first and the hockey one will come right after. And as a lot of people have said they aren't completely excited for it...I like some of his movies, but not all. Definitely an odd choice to picture him directing and writing a hockey film, but you can tell he has a passion for the sport and wants to do it justice. I have faith that as a true fan, he'll do it right.

The one interview where he said he'd never been allowed on the ice before, Detroit was his first time, and how awesome that was...I'm putting my faith in this movie because of his inner hockey nerd, not his past works.

I'll put my faith in it, too. I love Kevin Smith and know he's passionate about hockey.

I was in a smaller metal band that did quite a bit of touring, so I thought perhaps we'd crossed paths. Soil's pretty big, though, right?
