Guest Stolberg Report post Posted December 12, 2010 http://www.hockeysfuture.com/articles/12592/depth_and_skill_highlight_group_of_detroit_red_wings_junior_prospects As a testament to the strong scouting in the Red Wings organization, all but one of their junior prospects selected past the second round have shown remarkable progression since being drafted. Aussie_Wing 354 Report post Posted December 12, 2010 (edited) I just wish Landon Ferraro wasn't a complete hack. Callahan scored again today which marks 15 goals in 31 games. Landon, meanwhile, has 5. Yes, FIVE. Edited December 12, 2010 by Aussie_Wing
Konnan511 1,736 Report post Posted December 12, 2010 That's why Nill and Hakan get paid like GMs for their work.
egroen 384 Report post Posted December 12, 2010 It's really nice to see the recent drafting success after the cupboards were pretty bare for so long. It sucks that a lot of these guys will be waived/traded because of the glut in the system the Wings are getting. Would love to see Holland trade a few of them for a chance at a Top 10 pick one of these years.

All of these players are easily replaceable with the guys we have coming through the ranks: Miller, Eaves, Hudler, Draper ,Holmstrom, Salei. Then we'll have Lidstrom retired. So that's 5 forward spots and a Defensemen spot that could go to our young guys. Plus, you should remember, those guys in the list provided by the OP will more than likely spend their 3 year ELC in the AHL, and maybe 1 or 2 more years down there past that. And by that time Datsyuk/Zata/Franzen/Cleary/Stuart/Rafalski will all be up there in age and these young guys will be heavily counted on to keep the Wings dynasty going into the next decade Edited December 13, 2010 by Konnan511
Guest mindfly Report post Posted December 13, 2010 In Hindsight ferraro was a bad pick, it's early to count him out but these years are so important to "get er going" and become a pro.

Yes, FIVE. I set my expectations low in comparison to everyone else. I was hoping that he could be another Dan Cleary kind of forward. Now those hopes aren't looking too good. But hey, he's got his contract; maybe the AHL style of play will bring the best out of him.

That's what I'm hoping too mate, and in the back of my mind, I'm thinking positively and allowing myself to believe that it might happen. Some players don't produce in certain environments and thrive in others, he might take to the AHL like a duck to water. Hope so anyway, because he does have some nice attributes. I was so high on him when we was drafted. I just don't understand how he could pot 37 goals before being drafted, to the player he is now.
titanium2 867 Report post Posted December 15, 2010 Maybe package Emmerton, Axelsson and maybe Hudler in trade to a team that appreciates skilled players.

Right now we have a lot of prospects who seem to be projected to be 3rd liners, maybe 2nd if things work out. The only bona fide stud we have is Smith. Its not like the early 2000s when we knew we had Zetterberg, Kronwall and to a lesser extent Datsyuk coming through (I say that since even when he made the NHL, no-one had any inkling Pavs would become what he has whereas Hank & Kronner came with a lot of hype).
