Meh, time to watch something else. Habs are mentally already in their hotel and comfortably sleeping.

o look, another clean hit penalized

Meh, I know this is a borderline hit, but hearing this from the Bruins color commentary guy:

"..the question is, is the primary point of contact the head of Scott Gomez?"

Reminds me significantly of the NFL and the excessive nitpicking of hits they do. How many rules have they made, and do they continue to make, over the last, what, 20 years(?), concerning player safety? Yet, how often do injuries still occur, especially head injuries?

Really, people, come on, you can only go so far on player safety without compromising the league and the integrity of the sport it's supposed to represent, with bulls*** rules that remind me of dissecting politics and law.

Even if this hit is a penalty by technicality, it does not look dirty at all to me. In fact, only a couple years ago this would be considered a clean hit and make it on highlight reels for entirely opposite reasons.

What scares me is where's this gonna go in about 4, or 5 years from now - a non-contact NHL?

That would be an overreaction. Just more attention due to the players not being able to control themselves and having players like Cooke stamp a black cloud on all of this. It's a cycle and I am confident this "microscope" will pass.

The unfortunate reality is that every hit for the remainder of this reg season, and playoffs is gonna be placed under the league's microscope.

What scares me is where's this gonna go in about 4, or 5 years from now - a non-contact NHL?

No idea, but I stopped watching the NFL for this very reason, and surely, besides the CBA, they will yet again convene on more trivial rules to limit hits and somehow protect players even more than they already do. Game is too bogged down and boring. Being that I'm moving to Canada in 10 days, surely will be around hockey enough to where the NHL doesn't need to be my primary source of hockey. The only downside is these kind of rules trickle down and influence non-professional hockey as well.
