e_prime 1,936 Report post Posted April 25, 2011 How nasty was that Richards hit on Connolly? It looked bad. When they first showed the replay it certainly could be viewed as Richards pushing Connolly's head into the boards. It's not as if Connolly doesn't know that Richards is there though... It looks as if he tried to get his arm up to protect himself but did so a little too late. Connolly has a history concussion issues so it certainly raised the ire of fans, Buffalo players, and Ruff. Miller had serious words afterwards "If Mike Richards thinks we're getting away with murder I don't know what he just got away with? Mass Murder? Are we taking it up a notch? Unbelievable. We lose a player for the rest of the game..." Ruff: "It's Lack of respect for another player on the ice. It's from behind, it's headfirst into the boards. It's a tough play, we lost a good player." It's one of those plays where it's definitely boarding, there was an appropriate penalty call, and that should be about it, despite Ryan Miller's assertion that the league should look at the hit. cusimano_brothers 1,655 Report post Posted April 25, 2011 Richards leads by example; I'm not saying saying it's a good example.
HankthaTank 1,100 Report post Posted April 25, 2011 Good thing the day didn't end on this note. The fact it was Lame-o added a bit of humor to it though I might add. Both Finals teams picked by most have been pushed to 7 games in their first round matchups... interesting.
cusimano_brothers 1,655 Report post Posted April 25, 2011 No hearing, no suspension for Richards = no surprise. C'mon, Sabres.

Hockeytown0001 7,652 Report post Posted April 27, 2011 How is that not a major penalty on Briere!!! Pretty hard to call a major boarding penalty on a hit where the victim wasn't facing the glass. Dang, Miller is lights out tonight.
sixer 37 Report post Posted April 27, 2011 Pretty hard to call a major boarding penalty on a hit where the victim wasn't facing the glass. Dang, Miller is lights out tonight. Lucic just got kicked out of Bruins game 5 and a major for a similar type of hit that in my opinion wasn't as bad.
