Guest Shoreline Report post Posted April 24, 2011 (edited) there has been like 1 legitimate fight, maybe 2, the rest have been meaningless hugslaps I'm not a fight slappy so I don't really care whether or not it was a "good" fight. In fact, I would say a fight earlier in this Buffalo/Philly game was a fight since the gloves were off and punches were thrown, yet was called two minutes for roughing. Same thing with Marchand last night. Wings haven't won a cup recently without an enforcer regularly dressed in the regular season. I hope that changes this year though. The Wings winning the cup has had little to nothing to do with enforcers or "enforcing" anything, especially in the playoffs. If they can't play, like Dallas Drake, they don't get dressed (see: Aaron Downey) and lose their spot. Edited April 24, 2011 by Shoreline
Finnish Wing 110 Report post Posted April 24, 2011 I was taking a jab at the poster that said if you want to make the playoffs you need an enforcer. I was simply showing that if you have an enforcer that there's a good chance you'll lose. It was suppose to be sarcastic. I was just kidding there. I think you know I'm no enforcer slappy. Guest Shoreline Report post Posted April 24, 2011 I was expecting something like.. Am I glad the Wings won the cup? Yes. Do I think the Wings need an enforcer? No. Am I glad when the Wings win the cup and an enforcer happens to be on it? Yes. So [insert Jerry Springer final thought here relating to the Wings and enforcers]." I know you were joking- I was hoping my would be enough to show I was also being sarcastic. I also have been wanting to use that picture for a while. If they can't play, like Dallas Drake, they don't get dressed (see: Aaron Downey) and lose their spot. Exactly. This thread couldn't be any less about (in intention) the actual enforcing in the playoffs. It is more about the amount of enforcers who have managed to crack their respective team's playoff rosters. GMRwings1983 8,794 Report post Posted April 25, 2011 (edited) What's an "true" enforcer? Someone who can ONLY fight and play no actual hockey? Hard to define. Better done with examples. You name one, and I'll tell you whether they're a true enforcer. Edited April 25, 2011 by GMRwings1983

Parros. There are some different kinda players who fight often or less often. I'm betting you'd say Boogaard and Parros are true enforcers. Am I right? Bring Back The Bruise Bros 1,029 Report post Posted April 25, 2011 I wouldn't call Dan Carcillo or Ben Eager enforcers, but anyway, Kevin Westgarth and Kyle Clifford have really surprised me. Both have been very gritty, but they've both showed they can skate a regular shift. They've both played hard and in your face, but disciplined as well.
