Am I the only one who thinks Brunnstrom can make the team? I really think his head is in the right place in this situation to see it through and make the cut. The fact he didnt do great in Dallas and Toronto mean nothing more to me either then thank god he wasnt there longer. Let's be honest , neither of those teams have displayed the best track record for grooming superstars. When on the other hand the Wings have shown over and over again that's more less a forte of theirs, finding diamond's in the rough so to speak. Ok so Maybe Brunnstrom wont be a first rate superstar but I certainly think he can reach the plateau we wanted Leino to and then some. I just have a feeling the Wings are going to get the last laugh with this kid.

probably not.

to be honest i haven't seen him play much but i can't see him buying into babcock's system as he seems to be all offense. not that hudler is known for his defensive hustle but you probably know how the majority of us feel about him here.

he's got something to prove coming in and so did dan cleary, but cleary completely changed his game around and can fabian do that? i don't know. i'm sure after playing with a strictly defensive team like dallas he wants to come to where he can possess the puck more (though we did resort to a more dump-and-chase game last year). he has to understand that both sides of the ice are important and work his tail off.

he didn't work his tail off to get to this league, but he paid his dues in toronto's farm system and, as far as i know, didn't threaten to bolt back to europe like some players have in our own system.

i'm interested to see what he does in camp.

It's nice to hear someone talk about how the Wings are sensibly using that cap space to cement the next 5+ years, rather than splashing out for this one. It shows to people that we're not a trade/free-agency shy team, but one of the few remaining sensible ones.

As for Brunnstrom, can't really say I know too much about them but do agree the Wings are great at moulding those late/undrafted people. Having said that, however, I wonder how much of his learning years are behind him already being at 26. We'll have to wait and see. He'll need to work hard, an not expect a place this year. Earn it over this year and next, and then maybe enjoy the rewards.
