hillbillywingsfan 794 Report post Posted October 10, 2011 Looks to me that Giroux did go to stop right in front of Chara but Chara i guess shouldn't of pushed him any extra. I wouldn't think there would be any kind of suspension for that hit and if so 1 game.
Sprsquirt7 45 Report post Posted October 10, 2011 Giroux is partially to blame for that hit. 2 people going into the corner and one stops 10 feet from the boards right in front of the biggest guy in the league. Id venture to say he knew what he was doing. Not all his fault though.
Red Wings Addict 787 Report post Posted October 11, 2011 Pierre is ripping the s*** out of the Capitals team defense right now, haha. He definitely does not have a shortage of criticism.
Guest Shoreline Report post Posted October 11, 2011 (edited) For once I agree with the Versus morons, and I dunno why OP pointed out Pierre, because Olczyk basically summarized Pierre's view and spoke for by in large most of the clip. Giroux initiated contact with Chara, with a guy who is much much stronger than him.. there sure as f*** better not be any rule to protect Giroux for that. The obvious lesson for Giroux here is he better learn not to put the body into a guy that can plaster his face through the glass, or have a tall glass of "man the f*** up" instead of trying to sell a boarding call. eva unit zero 271 Report post Posted October 11, 2011 Giroux didn't initiate contact, or try to sell a call. Giroux was trying to get around Chara and get the puck, or at least prevent Chara from getting it. He stopped because he expected to be fighting with Chara for the puck and was positioning his body in an advantageous spot. Chara simply gave him the Ace Bailey. Do you play hockey? If not, I understand why you have this view, if you do, then I don't know what to say. What Giroux did was not how you play, it's not how you go into a corner to get a puck. He did what he did to avoid playing it the right way, go into the corner, take the hit to make a play. I didn't listen to the volume on the replay at all, but hopefully they are saying something similar.
